Re: Oct 1-2 FAST Race Pete, No we are working on a date would like to know what you all think should it be one or two event it would be mid to late Oct? If it's going to be one day it would be a Sat with the normal test & tune but if we have enough racers that want to race and make it into a two day event we can try go that route Martin is not cheap to rent, we'll get a date by the end of the week, but need to know how many racers and how many days.
I would rather go to a track that hooks.I know a bunch of guys that were very disapointed with the Martin track prep the last few years.I know I will not be the fastest car there but if the track is poor I wont be able to even run a personal best .There are a lot of better tracks out there that are probably cheaper to rent. Idoubt I will go back to Martin.
I have plans the weekend of 10/16, but the 23rd or 30th, count me in barring unforseen circumstances.
Martin was and is on its worst day 10 times better than mid michigan motorplex in stanton. could have stuck my dads hemi AH car on that track with no problem.
Slicks are a bunch diffrent than Polyglass tires.I have run a bunch at both tracks and had far better luck in Stanton .I know Stanton isn't great but its better than Martin for the Polyglass tire.My 2 favorite local tracks put both of them to shame.
If you were at Martin than you will remember the 67 Hemi coronet my dad runs in pure stock. It went 2 tenths quicker with no changes and worse weather at martin, car hardly spun a tire and made the quick 8, was the best performance to date. But all cars are different so what track works for Mopars may not for fords. Hopefully things work better in september. As for us not expecting much traction.
I talked to several guys that were very unhappy with the track not just Fords either.I would think a hemi dual quad would make much more of its power on the big end not off the line.My car has to leave hard to run a good et .My first pass was a 1.80 60 ft then the track went to crap and my average 60 ft was a 2.09 for the weekend even with the 1.80 factored in.I can run between a 1.77 and 1,80 most every pass on a good track.
I didn't like the crab grass at Martin, I doubt I'll be back until it's replaced with fescue . :laugh: Really though, Martin is good. Two days would be great one will do.:TU:
Team Toronto is in.......4 cars for sure. I'm sure Team London will have 4 cars as well. Camp will be set up Thursday night....dinner at 6. Fish fry??? BBQ??:beers2:
