that was 6 years ago Jamie. I am fed up with poor customer service, poor quality reproduction parts. dishonest sellers and the car hobby in general. time to start enjoying life rather than stressing over all this car crap. a vacation to a tropic climate is first on my list.

Actually, Bob I was just funning a little-didnt intend to get under your skin. I agree 200% with your rant, the lack of customer service and the crap sold as new, excellent, made in china s**t is enough to make you crazy in this world/hobby. OTOH-and I mean this sincerely-In the time V8Buick has existed, you have had some of most desirable, coolest cars known to us pass through your hands. Whatever your reasons for the ongoing change up of models/years/types you have built in the past 11 or so years, they have all been interesting to watch as you transformed them into your vision of each. If you quit I surely wouldnt blame you, but I will miss you and watching to see how your next Buick turns out! :)

Hey Bob, i hate to see ya say youre done..I know you enjoy cars,,,cant ya just enjoy the cars as they are for a while and see if ya change yer mind? I quit for a couple years, in the past, all i did was sit at the house and work on my stuff, i had no outside interaction, and it made a diff..no internet, not car shows, if i couldnt find it locally, i didnt mess with it, i realized i was sick of the people, not the cars...

Whatever ya do, i hope you find what ya want...

Funny but I agree with This.... My car in no way is a show car,but I am fed up trying to locate just the right part to make it enviable. So,I am letting it like it it,running the hell out of it on the street and enjoying it finally. Anyone comments that I should get the fenders and such painted.I'm telling them You pay the bill and I'll have it done...
Hate to see you get out,but I totally understand!

I've been sitting on this same fence for a long time now as well. Due to life and the myriad things affecting mine, I'm no longer enjoying the ride so to speak. Hopefully you can take a break and will be able to come back to enjoy this once more. If not, maybe a new hobby will get you there. Good luck.

  15. I apologize Scott, i'm a little hypersensitive regarding this issue and mistook your meaning.

it's funny, before the internet and V8Buick i was nowhere near such a perfectionist. I didn't care if the car was numbers matching and never worried about what would and wouldn't lower the value of my car. I just drove em and enjoyed them. now it seems everybody is a self professed expert( including myself)

Hell Bob, just drive the hell out of them and enjoy them, I have come to that realization myself. If you try to hard at it, the hobby becomes just another damn job and its not fun anymore!!!

I can relate to your situation.

In the late '80's I restored a '71 GTO conv. To start with, it was just going to be a guick paint job, front seat covers and new top. Well, one thing led to another and we ended up at the '89 GTOAA Nationals in Ohio. We won our class with that GTO and sold it at the event, and I never looked back. The project was interesting and chasing numbers was a challenge, but after the car was finished I couldn't drive it for fear of getting a chip in the paint.

Fast forward to 2008. I was fortunate enough to be able to buy a midyear corvette. When I decided I wanted one, I knew I didn't want a numbers matching car. In fact I wanted a car the didn't have the original engine installed, because I knew I was going to mod the vette to fit my likes. I ended up with a 427/425 '66 conv. with a non-original block in it, solid roller cam, AFR heads, Tremec 5-speed, and Borgeson steering that I absolutely love. I've modded it to make it the way I
    want it.:pp :pp :pp

The point here is that you can do your car numbers correct and look at it, trailer it to shows, but don't drive it for fear of 'THAT CHIP!!!'. If that pops your cork, go for it. However, if that's not where you want to be, don't worry about it.

We went to a corvette gathering at a winery yesterday, 167 corvettes, and there were a few cars that were trailered in. They won the $12 trophies, but my buddies and I enjoyed a 110 mile run in the cars we always wanted, built the we we wanted. Who had the most fun???

I guess I just don't fit in any slot, but we certainly enjoy our cars the way they were meant to be enjoyed.

OK, I'll get down off my soapbox.

BTW, I'm doing my '70 GS Stage2 conv. the same way.

    ENJOY YOUR CARS!!!

    Good luck
