Wow! I hope the Lotto kicks in this weekend Bob I'll be visiting you for sure! I've really loved that triple black look and a four speed. I guess I'm lucky not to have got any of my cars to the point of worrying about such details! I'll get there soon....
    Good luck with your sale!

For what its worth, I think your 70 GS is close to perfect. Its got all the right looks and power and it isn't so rare or expensive as not to drive it. The extra h.p. is a little bonus fun. If I was looking...it would be a real contender.

  3. very good advice Mike, you described exactly how i am feeling about the hobby right now.

Well since an almost perfect 67 special would probably never be worth as much as an almost perfect / correct 70 GS, I would sell off the 70,build the 67 the way you want it and quit worrying about what it could be worth and have some fun with it.I am not saying hack it up or ruin it but just build it the way you want it and not worry about what others think.I know my 66 will never be worth as much as others on here but I sit and think about how to make things "perfect" or like this other guys car,get frustrated when it don't come out right and lose sight of why I have it in the first place. For fun.I hope you at least keep the 67.I think you would regret getting rid of it after a while.I wish mine was that nice. There I go again..............

  5. I truly do enjoy driving the 67. it's hands down the Best driving classic car i have ever owned (and i have owned a lot!!) if the 70 doesn't hit my number on Ebay i am going to store it at a friends shop and forget about it for a while. thanks for all the helpfull input and insight, especially to Mike S who's post hit home. Bob

    Bob,

As someone who's had Buick instilled in my brain, literally from the time I was a toddler, bouncing around the back seat of my mother's 71 GS 350 4-speed, I understand your dilemma in terms of whether to say screw it or give it a rest for a while and see what happens.

I sold what was basically my dream car on eBay last Fall. It was financially the right thing for me to do at that time. I ended up faring very well, as the car was going to cost me a couple of appendages to restore to it's correct, original condition. I don't regret listing it but would like to have seen a better outcome with it's new owner, which is a story for another day. In the end, I got mine and that's what I set out to do.

However, the Buick fire still burns and I would absolutely love to be in the position you're in with the 4-speed car. I would drive the living CRAP out of that thing, which is what it was intended for in the first place. I learned a long time ago that owning and driving Buicks always resulted in someone commenting on my Chevelle, so in a sense, Buick owners are behind the 8 ball to begin with. I didn't and don't care and can't wait for the day when my finances allow me a car close to what I had, in turn key condition that I can just hop in and drive the hell out of.

Good luck with the auction. I've saved it in my "watched auctions.".

  7. The Black 70 has been sold and is going to an owner who will appreciate it and enjoy it. I had many local offers but didn't want to sell locally because i don't want to see it driving down the road or at any local events.

Hello I am not sure who you are but I think I bought A 70 front bumper from you about 3 years ago for my daughters skylark. I know of your old black bomb because I have some pretty cool footage of it racing my 69 stage 1 convert back in the mid 80's in front of my house in oregon. I was going to give the video to mike who you got the car from and I still am but I would also like to get in touch with the new owner and send him a copy. This was at night and quite illegal but nonethe less a ton of fun, at the time I had a stock bore 455 with a 118 and converter and 364 auto BB and the beast was running 455 headers and who knows what else. The first race my car was cold right out of garage quadra bog loss next time we hit it a marked quarter mile from house I jumped the start a bit and at the lights(house) he edged me by a fender. Great memories glad I still have my car.

What is this congrats for the sale ? I would of thought it would be for the purchase of rare cool buick GS. He owned it for a week. This guy must be a flipper..........

  12. I'm not up on all the requirements to be considered a flipper but I'm pretty sure one of them is to make a profit and i did not. I had the car back for a month and realized i just couldn't deal with taking care of a Black car. when i owned it 15 years ago the paint was poor and it didn't matter. I failed to take this into consideration when i bought it back. plus it's no fun owning a car your afraid to drive for fear of doing something harmful to it. oh and an FYI. i have owned this same car 3 different times

Bob knows what I mean, and the guy who'll go thru the motor will give it his TLC.

  16. Gary, that motor has low miles and was well built, i doubt he will have to do much other than maybe fine tune it. I think he will enjoy the car.

Bob sorry to see your 70 go bye bye, some cool stories around here about it... You could have made a few extra bucks buy returning it back to original condition, but you dont want to get labeled a FLIPPER...There is enough GS Flippers and Dealer clowns in portland and SEATTLE area to go around:cool:
