Sounds a lot better, Paul. Being an open trailer person myself, I appreciate it. If we decide to change, I'll be up at the front of the line.. :TU:

Overall, Grand Rapids is a nice town, quite a contrast to that sewer on the other side of the state near here.

But all larger towns do have their bad element. Look what happened at the Hurst Olds Nats...Did they ever find all three of those cars? I heard the 79 was found as a carcass....

I called and have rooms in Plainwell also. Very nice people. This sounds like the place we want to change to in the future. 10 miles from the track is a no brainer!!

Tom, there is a HUGE soccer tournament in Kalamazoo that weekend and a lot of the hotels are booked, so I went on US 131 web site and and found the list for hotels in the area and called till I found one with enough rooms and a BIG enough parking lot also a good rate and right off 131, I made the decision not Dave not Greg so if thats not pleasing to everyone sorry, you guy's can stay where ever you want. Here one question though why in the world would you take your car and or trailer back to the motel now thats what I don't understand
when a lot of people stay at the track??????:Do No: Don't you guy's think your car and trailer is safer at the track then in the hotel parking lot??????:Do No: :Do No: As far as the party the guy's who cook and drag out all their cooking stuff and some of them also have big trailers you want them to pack up everything and move it to the hotel parking lot where their stuff also is at risk and then have them worry about finding the same parking spot the next day thats what I don't understand??

Terry, is there someone at the track all night long to watch our cars and trailers?
If that is the case, I will leave my car and open trailer there at the track Friday night. I was under the impression that there was no one at the track during the night, and it was leave your stuff there at your own risk.

the problem with the track party might have been that last year not everyone got the memo...

I was at the host hotel with 4 other racers and 40 pounds of chicken kabobs feeling like Carrie on prom night......

I'm all for it. If the Friday night party is at the track I would rather be as close to the track as possible.

What is the group name gonna be? I'll switch my reservation.

Thanks, Paul & Tami, for setting that up.

For what it`s worth, there will be 1/2 dozen of us staying at the track all weekend long. We will be keeping an eye on the cars the best we can. Leaving them at the track is probably the safest route.:TU: :TU:

The answer to your question is yes some guy's will be staying at the track all weekend, that being said no one will be up all night driving around to make sure everything is OK, but if enough of us chip in we could get a couple of security guards to patrol the pits all night long, if enough guy's are interested I'LL call to see if we can make it happen.

More kabobs for us! Made a reservation at Comfort Inn in Plainwell. Now all I have to do is get the motor done......right this time....they say the second time is a charm. See you at the races! YEAH! :TU:

    Terry,
First of all, a big thanks to you for setting this up. I know it's a real challenge making a big group happy. The soccer tourney definitely threw a wrench into the works. Finding an alternate place big enough can be a tough.

As for us, we drive our car to the hotel, races and back home so leaving the car is not an option. I would feel more secure with our car completely disabled at the hotel lot outside my room, and in a town where some pro thief or joyrider will likely not even try to take it.

As for the party, I see that some stay at the track and that's understandable they'd want to set up there. If a group also stays nearby in Plainwell we can party in the lot there too. It's a lot less driving between parties, figuring we might start at the track and end up at the Hotel or some combination. Rumour has it though that all of the hot chicks are gonna be in Plainwell! :beer
I think Tami is also planning to brew up some of her almost famous Jello Nascar Jigglers for serving up in the lot in Plainwell. Maybe after all of the glass container malfunctions at Tim and Rhonda's we should stick with Jello, plastic or aluminum! :Dou:

OK, to all others who want the Plainwell Comfort Inn option here's the scoop. The manager is out for the weekend but will be calling Tami Monday morning. You can wait until then to make a reservation, or if you want to be sure to get in do the following. Per the person working the front desk tonight (Amber), we can make our reservations anytime. Mention the group "FAST Drags". They will lock you in immediately and quote you the regular rate. Once the manager dials in our group Monday they'll update your rate to the better group discount. The group rate will be $101.97 and they have a 72 hour cancellation policy.

Terry & Dave, thanks for the info about you guys staying at the track. I'm interested in having a security guard patrol the pits all night. Let us know what you find out. I appreciate the effort that you put into the organization of the event. I know it is hard to please everyone.

OK, I'm in the Comfort Inn. Thanks, Paul and Tammy for this and thanks to all others for setting all this up. Plan is to leave the car and trailer at the track, or may just leave the truck and trailer there and drive the car to the hotel. I've done that a coupla times, it's fun. :bglasses:

I am thinking of leaving the truck, trailer, and car at the track and riding the Mini Trail to the hotel :)

Thanks all for the info. We will be there with the Munson mobile!

Just an FYI, if you are entering this address into your GPS, make sure to add the W after 622.
It gives you a different location farther east on Allegan st. if you don't.

Enter the address: 622 W. Allegan st., Plainwell, MI.
