Is it okay to go 80 or 90 mph cruise speed on the highway with this combo: 430ci, THM 3 speed, 3.07 gear. Thanks.
BTW you guys ever notice how little the accelerator pedal needs to be depressed to maintain that hyway speed?
Our 69 wildcat pedal seems to be at only 20% travel at those speeds. Excellent engineering/marketing driving experience back then.
I would say well over 100 with no feeling of laboring. As long as radiator capacity can keep up on those hot days w ac cranking.
But again, what maximum speed is acceptable for this combo? I can imagine that going a 100 mph or 110 mph constantly could cause problems? It is easy to do though but like i said is it a good idea?
Personally I would be more concerned about human safety than hurting anything mechanically on the car at sustained 100mphs. Maybe wheel bearings would go first? But if it's mechanically up to snuff i wouldn't worry.
Ofcourse, you are right about human safety. I was just wondering if all will stay in good shape at such high speeds.
Very nice. I replaced that top in 2011, it was Buckskin but turned to white. It is now Buckskin again. Original paint on the car.
Figuring a 28" tire, 3.07 gear, at 90 MPH, 336/28 X 3.07 X 90 = 3316 RPM without converter slip. As long as your engine coolant temps and oil pressure is good, I'd think you could cruise at that all day.
