I dont believe an 8 track was available with a consolette.

Needs a few odds and ends fixed on it

If I was trying to sell a GSX with a shiny aluminum carb heat tube I'd have to stop, and kick my own ass.

I was trying to be a little more diplomatic just in case it was a members car :D

Nor of course was the vacuum gauge in the consolette. I'm not picking on this car per se & I could even see someone not knowing about the heat tube &/or other little details when doing a "restoration." I also understand adding/subtracting factory options to taste, but what I never understand is going through the trouble to do a body-off and then adding something that's very obviously incorrect to anyone who knows anything about these cars. It is their car & they can obviously do whatever they want but... I also don't understand not posting a Sloan/Wayne Roberts/ GM of Canada doc. when selling a car when they're available.

The thing that catches my eye most about this car is the downward pointing fender stripes. That's not something that's easy to fix. Look at a GSX with original paint and you will see that the fender stripe doesn't perfectly follow the arch of the fender like they do on this car. The arch of the front fender stripes seems to be a common mistake on restored GSXs.

Otherwise all the other things that are mentioned can be fixed relatively easily if the new owner wanted to address them.

For comparison, here is an original paint car. Notice that the stripe doesn't arch so much and doesn't point downward as much as the restored car.

I believe the shift pattern on the shifter ball is incorrect also.

Interesting - I think I like the way it looks better following the arch but would want it to be correct/orig.

4 speed, power windows, tilt and rear shoulder belts sure takes the sting out of the stripes being off.

Toss the 8 track and vac gauge and you have a winner in my book.

At least the hood is not gloss black

It does look better that way, that's how Buick should have done it from the get-go IMHO.

No way Nick. :) They look droopy as if they are defeated and looking down at the ground instead of charging forward as Buick intended. :)

At this point so many cars have been repainted incorrectly with sagging fender stripes that many think it’s correct.

I like it better following the top fender line even though it's not correct, but hey that's just my OCD at work. :D

might depend on who put on the stripes at the factory 1970-buick-gsx-gm-media-1-e1530613488171.jpg

Hey we all like different things. My OCD compels me to like the original even if it does look strange by not following the same arch as the top of the fender.

The car in that photo is the pre-production car. Since they stripes were done by humans, there was certainly some variation.

Don’t get me wrong, the car that’s coming for sale in the first post above is gorgeous and I’d love to have it parked in my garage. I’m just making an observation just like the other people that posted.

Here are three original paint cars:
#1 GSX #504 with original paint, still in possession of the family that bought it new

Hey mine also has a dent in the fender as well as debts in every other panel.

#508 with original paint.. another example that shows that the stripe doesn’t exactly follow the fender arch and doesn’t droop down and point sharply at the ground.
