I am going to chime in here with my tiny little .02

I don’t agree with Scott W on any level just to make sure we are clear. His behavior is beyond inappropriate and not acceptable then, now or ever. A lot of times there’s always a “but” because there’s more than one side to a conversation. There is a touch of validity about what he mentions on being undercut on purchasing parts from other members.

What I can say is when I first joined this forum as a young man at the age of 16 years old, I ran into quite a few issues with other members who were unhappy with me. When I say unhappy, it’s because I would post “I will take it” in for sale ads all to watch them sell it to somebody else. When I say selling to somebody else, we will never know who those somebody else’s are, because they’re not involved in the for sale thread, but again were personal messaging the seller to undercut me. We would watch those for sale ads be updated to say it’s been sold, again to whoever we don’t know.

This happened multiple times, that’s when I reached out to Jim W to have a conversation about the unfairness of pulling ads and selling to other people who are personal messaging the seller rather than to those who are inline.

You wouldn’t believe the amount of hate emails I received from numerous members on here and I still have those emails, thanks to those members for putting their feelings/emotions on wax to be saved for future reference.

The reason for the hate emails were because JW put the board policy into affect that you need to get in line to purchase an item and you can’t step over who is in front of you. I’m sure nobody knows that I was behind this change in this forum policy. But what I will say, regardless of all the shade thrown at me from other members, who were only a select few might I add, I believe it benefited the group as a whole.

I have never publicly shared this information with anybody on this forum because it wouldn’t go anywhere anyways. It’s a dead piece of old information that only changed how I purchase parts. Which would lead me to when I bought my restored 4 speed shifter handle off of eBay many years ago. I outbid a couple fellow members on here, who really got upset with me and threw some shade in my direction over emails. They were pissed I had bid the shifter handle up as high as it went and won the auction. I’m sure those same gentleman would love to know that the shifter handle had incorrect turned down threads and I saved them a bunch of money in the end for something that was not disclosed in the eBay ad as being modified. Maybe they can look at this one as “I took one for the team.”

I’ve always been fair when I post items for sale on here in making sure I’m giving a good deal and usually it’s at a loss of money to me in the end. For example, about two years ago, I listed a complete forced flow ventilation system for sale. I purchased the set up from RyansGSX on here many years ago and I ended up selling it to a member on our forum for the same price which was $300 on a Buick Facebook group. Within a short turnaround time after the gentleman received the set up he decided to list it for sale not on here, but on Facebook to all the other Buick groups for $1,700. This gentleman knows who he is and I’m sure he’s reading this as I speak. I made sure to let him know my personal thoughts that he is bending over folks in the Buick community and he knows he is doing wrong.

I have no problem selling parts at a loss even to date as there are many members on here, who are beyond stand up and have bent over backwards to help me get to where I’m at today with my restoration. I want to make sure I say that again, without about 5 members on here who are long-standing, if they did not help me acquire parts I needed I would be light years behind on ever getting what I need to complete my project.

In the end, no matter what has taken place I am indebted to these gentlemen and this V8Buick.com platform, regardless of any previous trials and tribulations.

Now that I have let my cat out of the bag, hopefully I’m not shunned by the masses….

There are several “scalpers “ on here, but I either put up (the money) or shut up. The reality is We live in a free market Country.

I have always put up the money, that has never been in question with anybody that’s ever done a transaction with me.

When I said this has taught me a lesson that means with my pocketbook. I usually dish out more money than the average guy just so I can guarantee I get the part in return.

I get what you’re saying about it being a free market but this is the reason policies have been enacted. If someone doesn’t like the board policies, well they can always do that free market business somewhere else, right?

It's a shame I'm not a part of Scott's group or I would suggest we invite that poor, innocent, maligned, seller over to sell in his group. :p
