Thought I would post here just to see if anyone want to follow my progress or comment. I am restoring a GS that I had from 91-2006 then bought back in 2011. I know have a house with a garage so restoration take 1, here we go. Started this in late 2011 and have started a facebook album with pics. still adding. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.667009519980714.1073741828.100000150164138&type=1&l=47b1550a43
awesome. I think its great to see pics that way you can see how far you have come and all the work that goes into the rest. Good luck and I cant wait to see how it turns out. Are you going back original or are you going to change things like color ect ect. give us some details on what you plan to do to the car. again good luck
Thank you. I have always had a GSX clone in mind for it with Stratomist Blue. I am also a guy that tends to stick with a stock appearance and would like to return it to original color. BUT.... since this car has already had a rear clip put on, an engine swap, and no paperwork I am not as draw to keep it original color etc.. It was a Cortez Gold, black vinyl top, 4 speed GS 350. I have the original numbers matching tranny but putting a 455 in it with A/C. Going with power windows/ power door locks, have the shorty console for between the buckets already and a nice 4 speed consolette. I have a rebuild 8 track and am/fm for it too. I got the 8 track before I figured out that those didnt come in the 4 speed cars. I would like to go with a black vinyl top if I don't do the GSX scheme. Right now I'm just focused on the chassis reassembly and some more painting/coating under the body and getting it back down on the frame. Moving soon and need it trailerable.
The picture with the kids next to the engine hoist is priceless!! The boy (your son I'm assuming) has such a smile like he can't wait to get his license and leave rubber all the way down the street!! Good luck with the restore!! Tom
Yeah. I' m drawn to the black with gold stripes as well but I'm quite a ways from having to decide the color thats for sure.

Looking good.It sucks your truck broke down.Them 6.0 Fords run great but they do have some problems.I miss my 7.3 liter.
I work at a Ford dealer thats a common problem with the 6.0s at least it didn't blow a head gasket.Keep up the great work on your car.I like the blue GSX idea.
Chris Just a observation, I assume that you did not have a fuel return line when you had the original SBB 350 and the BBB 455 that your installing I believe you'll need a fuel return line. Your SBB 350 fuel pump only had a one fuel line and the BBB 455 fuel pump will have two fuel lines, one for fuel and one for fuel return line. Just look into this and hopefully other on here can add their information on this matter. BTW I been restoring my 71 GS 350 with 4 speed for the last 8 years! I will hopefully have my fenders installed this weekend! George
Ya know when I got this car back in 91, with the non original 350 motor, it had a return line but was never hooked up. It was just there. I havent looked into things like that yet or how many vents the tank needs, mine has 3. And what goes on those vent lines off the tank?
Chris The fuel and return line connects to the fuel sending unit on the tank. Here is a photo of my new tank and sending unit showing two line on the top of the tank. The three lines from the back of the tank connects to a series of fuel vapor lines above the rear axle, check the shop manual which I believe you have. George
Nice! I can't like the page? I set mine up with it's own FB page https://www.facebook.com/media/set/.../pages/1969-Buick-Restoration/131828133564349 I have followers from all over the world and you can keep track of everything.
Chris, It's funny. Your facebook photos are almost the same as my photos on my 66 project. Up to and including the black face from grinding off the undercoating. Here's my thread: http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.p...Jason-Cook!!-I-m-bringing-home-a-66-GS!/page5 You're doing an awesome job.
Chris, Love the facebook album! Where did you get your brake lines from? Keep plugging away its coming along very nicely!
Louie, brake lines are from inline tube. I got e-brake parts and complete rear drums from them as well. Fuel-line is from OPGI. I was out at Disneyland last month and dropped by OPG and picked up the fuel line, some misc hardware, and a new grill $$$. Paul, I wish i could say i was done getting that undercoating off but i'm not. ran out of time and will do it later. GUess there is no easy or quick way to do it.
heat up the undercoating with a small hand held propane torch and it will come off with a putty knife with ease. Progress looks great.
