my dad just emailed me the only good pic I have of me and my first Buick. Pic was taken in 1985. It was a 70 lark 350-2 and we called it "booblue". I totally forgot about the big dent (not mine), the vent windows and that it was a sedan. Great memories of many many high school hijinks in that car It had 130K and still stayed dead even with a 1986 Iroc Camaro from a standstill till 90MPH with 5 passengers and a full tank! All stock. Seeing that thing again is like going back in time, I'm psyched!!!
erik, that pic was taken in the Ironbound section of Newark NJ. The row houses there were built in the late 1800's. Pat, the Pinto was my grandfathers 1972 Pinto hatchback. It was a piece but my grandfather loved it and it took us and his boat on many fishing trips to the Atlantic Highlands. Annie, back then I got my tires from the pile behind the Goodyear dealer so no they were never the same but always the same size on an axle. The Police seemed to really be interested in me back then. The reason for my "popularity" with the cops back then has become very obvious.
I have a pic of my first car, also my first restoration (fathers help), back when I was 15yrs old. It wasa 79 Silverado.
Here's one for you... want a good laugh? Here I am (complete with mullet ou: ) with my first car, a 72 GS 350, sandwiched in between a buddy's 68 SS 396 4-speed and his other 68 SS with a 427 and a 4-speed. You can see why I always wanted a manual transmission muscle car..I was SURROUNDED by them....but, I had to start somewhere... :Brow: Note: this was taken my senior year of high school, when I was about 5'5" and weighed 140 pounds soaking wet! 10 years later, at my class reuinion, half the people I went to school with didn't recognize me, having "filled out" a couple years after graduation...
Here's another pic, (still with the mullet :Brow: ) of a car I bought with a friend right after high school... Click here for a little background on this rare bird....
Andy, you and I would have been best friends in 85. You have that deviant look in that picture just like I remember everytime I looked in the mirror. My car was a 70 Duster but, the cops knew me by name everywhere I went. They never were able to get anything on me but boy they tried. Maybe it was being the only one of my friends who had a car. Man, I think of the honeys I sported around in highschool or the off road adventures with a trunk full of ice cold beer. I'd use the sunken spare tire well as a cooler. Fill it with beer and ice and go dripping down the road then pull the drain plug when it was all gone. We had to go way up canyons or fire roads to party where the cops wouldnt hassle us. Good times. Those Mopars sure could take a lick'n. Glad I didnt have Buicks when I was a kid, I'd have alot of regrets now. :beer
Seriously, we DID buy it.... :Brow: Unfortunately, I didn't own it outright or I would have never sold it... ou:
4-speed :Brow: :TU: :TU: I have two of mine, I'll have to get them on the computer as soon as I can. They were taken in the 80s when my dad was driving it. I'll look for more too. Anthony
