Heres my pic. I was 15yrs old. Bought it with a blown diesel engine for 300.00. My father and I restored the body and interior, and put a 454 in. Took us a year to get it on the street, and 2 more yrs to finish it. 1979 Silverado. My first car/truck. Gotta love the cardboard creeper....
:beer You're right about being best friends back then. We were doin the same exact stuff... One of our group of party friends even had a 70 Duster. And we did off road stuff with that Buick that would make Ivan "the iron man" Stewart proud and like you, the girls and alcohol were plentiful. That car was a rolling party. We also did off road stuff that could have got us killed like riding on the hood at 70MPH on a two track trail no more than 10 feet wide. We used to try to nail the brakes at the puddles and throw the guy into the water. Crazy kids! ou:
Here is my first Buick (car for that matter) back in 1982. It was my sisters car and either I took it for free or it was going to the junk yard. The body had more holes than you could count. In-line 6 cyl that would still spin the year round studded snow tires (what a spark show) and note the snow tires in the front also. A stop sign was used to create floor boards in the front, the carpet was the only floor in the rear. I drove it for 1-1/2 years and sent it to the junk yard still running fine. I replaced it with the '73 Monte Carlo in the background. I loved my Monte with the swivel bucket seats :Brow:.
My first car was a 75 Regal Coupe with 350. I have a pic of it in my office but no scanner. I'll post it when I can get it scanned. Loved that car. Of course now I wish I had never sold it.
LOL....yep..and now I tell my kids "Be Careful!" riding a skatebaord. It was also cool for me because my Dad was always coming home with these unusual but bitchin cars. I know he won them in card games, or at the track, and never told us. You would be amazed how a (beautiful) 66 Continental tears up a highschool football field. And while doing laps on the track (for running) that car held a sideways pitch with perfection, almost like it was made for it. :Brow: He had some cool ones, all perfect condition or better: 61 Caddy convert white/white. 50 Ford custom (3 on the tree). 68 Fury (badass 6 pack). and many more..Caddies, Merc, even a Rolls Royce one time. That thing sound like a Jet plane.
