Chris, thanks for all your help on connecting me to the original owner of this little forgotten 4dr. gem. This car was stored in a heated garage and used only as a traveling-vacation car according to the daughter and mostly during the summer months, and hardly ever driven in the wintertime. The Dad/Husband who passed away in 2014 ordered the car from "Bill Dreiling Buick of Denver" on 11-21-69 according to the bill of sale for a total price of 3,976.00, which included the Y42 315hp.-350 dual exhaust package, and a G80 positive traction differential. Basically he bought a GS350 with 2 extra doors:cool: and in a great color combo:). I'll try to post some photos up this weekend. Larry.

Excellent Larry, glad I could play a part in it, anxious to see more pics and can't wait to hear how it runs. Guessing you will have it running by the weekend. :>)

Congrats, @AC Larry. Looks like a real sweetheart. Is that a painted top? Looking forward to some more photos.

Yes, it is a white painted top, the original window sticker shows a D99 option, which states "Two Tone Paint-- Rear Quarter Belt Molding" Larry.

First, congratulations! Painted top & HC 350 - Doesn't get much better than that in a 4-dr. Skylark. Maybe factory gauges & I'm kinda suprised it wasn't ordered with them. Imagine what oddball headpipes they must've been at the assy. plant! My problem with owning that car would be resisting the urge to part it - I bet even the RF inner fender & core support are perfect but it definitely deserves to be preserved.

Were or have you been able to ascertain whether it's really 116k or 16k mi.?

    Larry,

We should probably talk about a finder's fee. :>). Totally voluntary, but if you haven't already made a contribution to keep this forum operating, please consider it now. Without v8buick.com, you never would have been able to buy this car. Thanks, Chris

Dano, this car would probably part out for what I paid for it [and I paid a pretty penny for it] but there would no profit to be made and you would just destroy a neat old car, so it's not going to happen while I own it. As far as the mileage is concerned, the interior clearly shows it being 16k. The engine compartment shows it being low mileage also, the doors shut like a brand new car, no breakdown on the driver's side seat, windows roll-up tight, tilt wheel is perfect[not loose or sloppy]. I was just thinking if maybe---just maybe the Mother/Daughter really didn't take as many trips or go as far they thought they did? They did say they got a new Ford Explorer in 1996 and that they used that as their family/traveling car from then on. You just never know about people's stories?

It is 116k miles, I had asked and confirmed that with owner's daughter. If it was 16k, I might have been taking a road trip to Denver instead of posting the lead here, lol.

"My dad was a proud car owner. The mileage is absolutely accurate…it was the family vacation car that took the three of us (and later just my mom and dad) across the US multiple times and deep into most parts of Canada!"

You're right Chris, the car does have 116k on it. But when you see it you just can't believe it, the originally is amazing! Well, I'm going back out to Colorado this afternoon to bring the car home. Last Tuesday when I bought it, we hauled it in my enclosed trailer to Lafayette [just north of Denver] to my friend's shop so he could document the original fit and finish, coatings, and plating of various parts and build procedures that was done on this Kansas City built car. My friend is doing a ground-up resto on a KC Built GS455 Red conv. and he wants to duplicate the build procedure as close as possible,. I told him this 70 4DR. would be an excellent survivor car to study, he agreed, and wanted to go over every part of the car. I also had to drop my box trailer off in Greeley [further north] for my oldest daughter who needs it to move back here to Kansas next week. I guess we will be hauling it on the open trailer across I-70 this evening back to Kansas, I'm sure it will get a few thumbs up. :D Larry

I just got in last night at 11 pm . A normal 4 hr. trip turned into almost 7 hours, I was battling blowing dirt and sand across the highway at several locations, so I just stopped along the side of the road and waited it out. I wasn't about to let the 53 year old original paint get sand blasted on it's first ride home. Larry.

Here's probably one of the best original rear bumpers in existence, "it's like 1970 factory new." Larry.

The day I picked the car up with a picture of Barbara {89 years old} the original owner. Also rear 1/4 shot just before we loaded it in the trailer. Larry.
