Thank you,Yes many years of hard work. Im also a engine builder and have done many complete car builds.Fortunately I love what I do. and being from Detroit originally and working for Jack Roush and doing prototype builds for the car company's,it's in my blood. Again thank you for the kind words. Ken Maisano
Great cars Ken, and welcome to the Buick world! did your Co. work with Chip Foose on the show Overhualin'? thought I noticed your Co. logo a time or two on the show. and maybe you as well. Bruce
You can do mine too...But, Mr Foose must stay away from it...l like his drawings but, I would be beside myself if they yanked my 455 out in favor of the BBC crate motor..
I agree, I had to fight a few times to save a couple numbers matching drivetrains. P.S. Just sent you a PM.
Gorgeous GSX. One day I might actually see one in person. I am nearly 48 years old and have yet to see a 1970, 71, or 72 GSX in person but just pictures. For that matter, I can count the number of times on both hands I have seen any '65 to '75 GS. Here in Shreveport, I have seen a nice '65 Skylark GS and a very nice dark blue '68 GS 400 at some shows. When I lived in Minnesota, I seen some eight GS's: three '70s, a '71, three '72's, and a '74. Buick people do not drive these cars everyday and for good reason.
That's awesome, and made me remember seeing your shop on some of those shows. Do you guys use Glasurit and R-M exclusively, like they always used on the show ?
I as well thought the name and company sounded familiar. Welcome to this group. A whole bunch of good people on here and a wealth of info that's freely shared.
Here in California we have to use water base paint. The R-M Glasurit paint is very good, but I switched to Sikkens the paint is great and the tech support from AkzoNobel is the very best. I will be keeping the QQ and the 1010 GSX Along with the 70 Blue Trans Am. I may sell my 69 Cortez Silver Survivor Z/28. And look for a 70 GSX 1010 Stage1 Auto A/C Car.
We're still lucky here in Wyoming, so far no restrictions in site for the solventborne or non HVLP guns. We use R-M, but a friend of my dad's sell's all of the Akzo Nobel lines, and I agree it's excellent paint.
Hey Ken, welcome to you and your georgeous cars! Al's white GSX is georgeous and you will be happy when it arrives. Can't wait to see more pictures of your cars!
Thank all of you for the kind words!!What a great group of people!! I used to spend a great amount of time on the Boss302 registory, sharing tons of my hard work and study's on the boss 302 Cleveland based engine. All backed by my Dyno Run videos. With manifolds, cam, exhaust manifolds vs headers.ect.ect.Some people there are very kind and I truly consider them my friends, but many others would not be very nice, and then I would get calls from the same people asking me questions. If you guys get Very bored, look on that site for some of my work. User name Nadine.I couldn't get a login to work, tried my wifes name it took, been Nadine there ever since https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=4993725209213&set=vb.144748208954595&type=2&theater One of my Boss 302 builds. All of us here have seen what you are talking about. More than other boards, this group is very kind and supportive, not to mention so very knowledgeable. For Buicks, this is the spot. Welcome! Frank in Austin
Welcome aboard Ken. :beer Looks like you have jumped in with both feet by buying those GSX's. Well played sir!! Since you mentioned the Boss 302 build, and then put up a link, well, it just begged me to check out that dyno run. WOW is all I can say!! Never figured you could safely spin that engine to 8k and keep it alive. Very impressive indeed. My first muscle car was a 71 Mach 1 with the 429 SCJ 4 speed, and Drag Pack. Got to drive a Boss 351 but never a Boss 302.
I need a job doing this in Indiana! Can you guys help me get started? I have places already located like close to the top fuel guys garages.
This is my Boss 351 for sale right now. They are cool cars.Your SCJ was amazing to have as your first car http://www.rkmotorscharlotte.com/sales/inventory/active/1971-Ford-Mustang-Boss-351/134669#!/ And this is one of my builds and has the engine in the dyno video. http://www.rkmotorscharlotte.com/sales/inventory/active#!/1969-Ford-Mustang-Boss-302/134473
