So what you are saying is that the term "arriving soon" is subject to perpetual change? ou: Who manages these companies' websites anyway? Who does it help to advertise a bunch of stuff you don't have or can't get?
I was speaking with Mark Reeves this morning about Frank's coolant recovery tanks. Evidently Frank's supplier now is demanding a minimum order of 500 units, which is MANY TIMES past orders. This is likely the reason there will be no more. A huge cost would need to be incurred up front to pay for such a large number, and then they would take years to sell. I know I could not afford to do this on my own bank account, and I suspect Frank can't either. Maybe this thread should be moved to a more appropriate location, and be used to determine interest in the tanks. I could use 2 of them, and would probably commit to buy 2 more. If enough people were willing to put down a deposit, perhaps there would be a chance to have more produced.
I'd probably buy two as well. I wonder if there's another source we could turn up to produce these. I'd really thought about having a fab shop build me an aluminum "replica" of the stock one as well...
Just an update for you guys. TPP messaged me earlier and told me the tanks were in stock. I took the risk and repurchased one through ebay. I just got a notice a little while ago that it had been shipped, so hopefully this is the real deal.
Ordered one today by calling them on the phone. Specifically asked if they had them in hand they said yes. They also said they will be getting more.
Good news...Bad news. Good news:...My coolant recovery tanks arrived. They seem to be of good quality, and include the upper internal baffling of the originals. Over all I am pleased. I recommend getting one if you need one. Bad news:...There was some damage to one of mine that did not appear to have been caused by the shipper. I have contacted TPP seeking remedy. We'll see what happens.
Stem location is a match to the original on my GSX, but does appear to be ever so slightly shorter on the new tank. I'll try to get some measurements Thursday.
Took a couple of photos of the new Parts Place tank compared to a Frank-tank. It is a different mold for sure. The text on the side of the tank, and the text on the lid and cap are a slightly different. Overall the tank looks really nice in my opinion. It's obviously much more bright white than the original tanks, and is also even a brighter white than the Frank-tank on the right in the attached photo. The bright white isn't how the originally looked from Buick but it will look great on a restored car. I'm really surprised that TPP stepped up and had these tanks made, but I'm glad they did.
^Beat me to it. The tanks look to be about 95% accurate to the original parts. Is it perfect for a concourse level car? Probably not. Will it work for most of us looking to loose that yellowed/cracked tank? Definitely. They have a marking on them that says "#785 The Parts Place," so these look to be a proprietary design. I would say the only issue that really stands out for me is the difference in font on the lid.
