Hello I am a high school student who is new with cars and is interested in Buicks and may have a few questions. My Dad is a Buick addict and I am helping him build a 455 motor.

My dad always drove Buicks, too. Before he had the '66 Riviera he later gave to me, he had a '57 roadmaster that was previously owned by my grandmother. After the Riv, he had a '72 Estate Wagon. I come from a Buick family, too.:)

Well nikki, as a 14 year old boy, i know i love to drive my century. It's big and very stylish. And, the main thing, is the engine. 231 V6. Im going from small to big in engine size. After i get some money i want to get a GS or a buick with a small block V8. like a 350. Then i want to go with a "smaller" big block. like a 400. And then i want a monsterous buick engine. you know, 455, bore and stroked, etc. Too much performance things to list. But in my opinion, a plain-jane 6 banger is good enough for me untill i can get a V8 car. It's really up to you though.

If you drive a BIG Buick, you will command more respect on the road:Brow:

    That's not a biased opinion either:laugh:

80's Regal would be a good bet. Relatively cheap to buy, good availability etc.

 That's one good thing about iowa. you don't have to wait long untill you can drive. But also, another great car would be a mid-seventies skylark. Drop a 350 buick small block motor in there, 4 speed, a heavy posi-trac rear end, some good headers and dual exhaust and you got yourself a good, fast, buick.:3gears: :TU:

A skyhawk is also a good suggestion. Rare, but very, very economically sound with acceptable performance. Them are the good "smaller" buicks. There is many "Big" buicks out there to chose from also.

I bought a 93 Lasabre Wildcat fender skirts and all from a elderly man. It has 30000 miles on it. My daughter laughed at me and called me pop pop. She drove it to college and guess what. She loves it now and she says I am not getting it back. Its a good choice safe reliable and the v6 still has plenty of get up. Oh yea it get over 20 miles per gal. on trips. :)

Dont worry bout it, I didnt get my permit till I was almost 17 :Dou:
Cody mentioned a '70s Skylark. You could find one for a decent price and most of them would already have the 350. Biggest drawback is of course the cost of maintance like fuel, parts, etc. But it's certainly worth it. Its also good to have parents that understand your need for a classy Buick, but from what you said about your father, it doesn't sound like that'll be a problem.

Reccommend a 2dr 78 skylark... I drive mine daily It does very well on gas. It has a very dependable V6 and It can be upgraded later... I have driven it for almost a year now and almost got my money out of it ... All $150 worth...

Sounds just like my century. except it isn't a '78. My grandma bought it from an old lady in her mid seventies in '88 for 500 bucks straight out. At the time, it was rust free, 72,000 miles, iowa car all of it's life, one owner(the old lady), no dents or dings, etc. I don't know that, but that's what i was told. Very dependable, fun to drive, and it doesn't drive as slow as a real "granny" car. Drives like a buick should:TU: Speaking of the mid to late seventies skylarks, the V6 ones are 231's, and the V8's are 350's. At least that's what most of 'em are stock.
