YER GOOSE IS COOKED! Just a cursory POOR-MANS 15 stop the cancer job. Still in patina. Ho Hummm... ws
Hahahaha......ever so slightly creepy..............it sure is nice having something that doesn't have to be perfect, isn't it? I enjoy my less nice cars way more than my attempting to be perfect ones. Lay the trim back on and nobody's the wiser
YUP! Last year at halloween, I had a little girl come back to the door and thank me for scaring her with the goose-man! next year the window will get pulled for a paint job. Half the bottom clips were vaporized. I spent 2 hours picking and cutting 3X worth of caulk out yesterday and patched it today and brushed a bunch of zinc primer in before the bondo and rustoleo spray paint. The old caulk was white(??) and crumbling and really looked sad. Now its happy. Ordered my new juice cooler today! Rocket test fire on Pad #2 is coming up pretty soon! ws
Last haircut was Oct 10th, the day the boat got yanked for the winter. The day after the launch the winter coat gets shorn. Back on the Buford today. Got the heat exchanger installed, and then got grilled. Forgot the weenies. Well maybe next time! Thats a 50LB assembly there. BTW... new technology after 125 years... the petcocks that had a fool proof brass on brass seat NOW have a rubber o ring seat that you overtighten and squish the shart out of and it has a permanent leak. Excellent Idea Poindexter! How else can we fork up someones day AND spill toxic chemicals on the ground that cause cancer in the state of california? CHINGA DE MAYO!! ws
Hey, congrats Bill on getting that bad boy running! You've really done a lot of work in what seems like a fairly short amount of time. Probably doesn't seem like so short to you. Looking good!
Thanks Mike! The ruff total is 368.00 hrs from delivery. Probably another 100 to go before its' streetable "legally". That boils down to about 6 hrs per day., and 5-6 days per week. there is a few good oil leaks, mostly valve covers. Im am looking for some driver quality cast aluminum covers. Seems the stamped steel are prone to being distorted from overtightening. Dang factory put the covers on upside down. 3 bolts on the top and 2 on the bottom rails??? Probably gonna get the UV dye and blacklight going to be sure. Just hope its not any freeze plugs or rear main seal. That'll be next years work. BTW, the new chinaman single wire alternator is putting out 14.6 volts. Monday Ill get the tags transferred and maybe go around the block. It was in and out of the shop today... all 10 feet! Tomorrow is shop cleaning day. Wellll overdue! Bill
Incredible; I've been following this thread since you started, your progress is an inspiration to all of us couch-surfers who can't work up the gumption to even make it to the can at the proper time. Good job!
I know whatcher sayin' Marc. If I didnt keep busy I'd be in a BOX LOL. I figure drive it this summer, and maybe a paint job next winter, then a few more years of fun. This one is beating me up, but the slow turtle wins the race. I guess I'm peculiar as I still get enthused about doing projects. None of my stuff is restored per se, but done enough to be decent looking and dependable. Pat gets the first ride as promised and thats tomorrow (after 3-4 doctor visits today!) Ill probably spend the day swapping valve covers and installing heater hoses. It'll be off to the muffler shop next week and hopefully the guy will let me take a peek underneath up on the rack. I always see more stuff to do when Im not supine! Keep reading! I appreciate it! ws
"The slow turtle wins the race". Who are you kidding!!! If that was a slow build I'd hate to think of what you'd call mine!!!! LOL Great job in very short order! Wish I didn't have a "job" to get in the way of finishing my '64!! LOL
Yeah Steve... Jobs suck! However, an evil necessity. Your venue is on my agenda, maybe this weekend on a trial run, AND I promise to bring my cardboard along LOL... Now get to work ;-)) Bill
ME TOO!!! Just thinkinking about you watching TV today about a ghost town out yer way. Done just right sounds like a Fritzenheimer quote LOL... ws https://www.google.com/maps/dir/Mis...f13746cba82a0!2m2!1d-112.9955907!2d45.1610337 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bannack,_Montana By December, 1863, the citizens of Bannack and Virginia City had had enough of the violence. Men from Bannack, Virginia City and nearby Nevada City met secretly and organized the Montana Vigilantes. Masked men began to visit suspected outlaws in the middle of the night issuing warnings and tacking up posters featuring a skull-and-crossbones or the “mystic” numbers “3-7-77, which some have said was the measurement for a grave, 3 feet wide, seven feet long, 77 inches deep. While the exact meaning of these numbers remains elusive, the Montana State Highway patrolmen wear the emblem “3-7-77” on their shoulder patches today.
Been there, and it's very cool....I try to make it to most the little out of the way spots in the state, but there are a lot of them and a lot of area to cover!
Im a water guy, but do appreciate the high desert country too! The last time I was out that way was 1965 with a train trip to Yellowstone for a week, and then back home from Cody,Wy. Id do it again, but half that drive is pretty much flatlands. ws
