It definitely is but compared to what goes on inside the engine its probably a smoother return. In the engine the crank is beating the snot out of it. Think about it. All the oil returning from the top end has to drain over the cam and then the crank. At first I had it squirting straight into the pond. Then I angled it to hit the wall of the can and run down thinking it might be better, but was not. For the sake of testing I think submerging it would lessen the air inclusion.
I went with a nice deep baffled alum oil pans and a belt driven external pump, the factory setup leaves a lot to be desired.
