Jeff, You have a show quality interior, BUT its functional. :Brow: :TU: I always liked black interiors. :bglasses:
Yardley, Looks better than the last time I seen it.....Duane did a sweet job on those seats. Now,I want a ride in that old girl... Pat
Yardley, That looks great. Great job on the interior make-over. A big :TU: to Duane on the recovering. Now I know where to go if i ever need something recovered...LOL Looks Awesome! Dustin
From Ratty to Righteous Excellent, Yards! :TU: I really like the color change. I suppose that once you've gone black, you'll never go back???? I know you've been really psyched about doing this for a long time. The pictures look awesome!!! Now you're really "Going Fast With Class"!!!! :TU: :beer
First, I pulled the windshield. Again, I had a dime-size area of rust that came back at the base of the passenger-side A pillar. So I ground it off and covered it with silicone to seal it. I know, I know, but I didn't have any good primer and paint, and I figure the last two times I primed and painted it didn't do squat, so the silicone HAS to adhere and seal it, right? Anyway, after the windshield was out I pulled the dash pad, then I disassembled the entire dash. I squirted the dashpad and A-pillar pads with Pep Boys spray cans of vinyl dye. Of course, the last 5 years of soaking the doors and dash with vinyl protectant has it questionable as to how well the stuff will stick (and I have a couple areas of touch up to do already). Then I sprayed the metal dash with gloss enamal from spray cans. I have some sanding and repainting to do on it once the weather breaks. I also replaced every single lightbulb in the dash as well. I'd have liked to use a professional spray gun with lacquer and all, but this will last for many years and still look good, so I'm not concerned.
Ahh..cool. That's what I thought. No worries about the spray cans. If you prep it well it comes out great. That's basicly how I'm doing mine too. Although I'm re-painting the same color so I don't have to dye the dash pad. Looks great!
Hey Jeff.Geez..:TU: Looks real nice and comfy!! You did a great job.Looking forward to seeing it in person later in the Spring!! Later,Tony.
Thanks everyone. I drove it to work again today and still have to pinch myself everytime I look around the interior as I drive. I'm astounded at the change!
Some place in Washington state. Ron Fryer sent it to them... he uses them often. They have a website, but I can't recall who they are. $300 to recover ONE armrest!!! But what option did I have? I sure as heck wasn't going to put a cracked, split and broken armrest back in THAT interior! But it looks brand new. Now I have to retrain myself to open that door without pressing on the same areas that broke the first time from the pressures applied by everyone with a repetitive motion to open that door.
