Hey Any of you guys planning to go to Brooks - the letter I got says registration starts at 10:00 with trophies at 4:00. Please look me up and introduce your self and give the secret V8 Buick handshake. You can find me in the vicinity of the car on the left. Look forward to seeing everyone.
Dukec, I'm going to haul out there with my daughters. But we'll be leaving by 1:00. I'll be in a red 70 Skylark with Weld Rodlites (fat's and skinnies).
Everyone You missed a very nice afternoon of Buicks if you didn't make it. If you did you know what I am talking about. I got to talk to some nice Buick owners and got my picture taken in front of the antique Texaco station at the Antique Power Museum. While there were many nice stocker Buicks that would all make great Streetrods there were only 2 Buick rods. Oh well also a couple of really nice GS's and some other fine Buick cars. Even ran into and talked with Keith Bingham a Buick owner from the Seattle area that I had met at the Puyallup show in June. It is possible for those northern Buick guys to travel south. What a surprise. dukec
I'm in the Portland area,Tigard to be exact-tons of GS/Turbo nuts out here if you know where to look! BOP drags at Woodburn Dragstrip is coming on the 4th of Sept. Could be interesting.
Hi Duke, It was a pleasure to meet you at the "Good Guys" Northwest Nationals in Spokane. Your 48 is bad a$$!! We had quite a surprise on Saturday, when a couple Good Guys reps in a golf cart pulled up to our 70 GS conv and gave it quite a look over. They informed us that the "Best Convert" award was being decided between our GS and another car. After looking under the hood and in the trunk they said they would be back later. About an hour later, they returned and told us our GS was the winner! They told us to park in the "Winners Circle" Sunday when we returned for the award presentation. We received a really nice plaque, it was quite an honor! During the three day event, it was interesting to hear several people comment, "I didn't realize Buick made such a great looking muscle car". There were several Buicks in attendence, a 63 Skylark, several Rivs, an Electra 225 conv and many others I probably missed among the 1200 cars there. Take care. I will try to attach a picture of our GS at the show.
Larry It is an absolutely gorgeous car and you deserved the trophy. Congrats again, I just thought everyone here on the board should know. :beer :beer :beer
My name is robert and I am from N. Portland area. That is one nice 70 you have their:TU: . I was also up at the payallup show with my 72 skylark convert. That was a good show. Plent to keep you busy with the fair going on. Will hopefully be up their next year with the 71. P.I.R. is a great cruise in. I try and go over their everytime I have a chance for the show. That and its like 5 minutes from the house.
Hi Duke, Thanks for the kind words Duke and Robert. Duke,we forgot to put that Buick sticker on your friends 56 Ford pickup, oh well, maybe next year! Did you happen to see Bruce Pruitts 32 Hiboy with a Masserati drive train in it? It is very unusual to say the least. Take care. Larry Damm
Larry You're right - we forgot the Buick sticker. Did you see his truck on Sunday? with the trailer and his wife's new Nash Metropolitan. He bought it in the swap meet and we hauled it home. Robert PIR is a great place on Wednesday night. I am going to try to get there this week. Look me up if you go.
Dukec, Lets hope it does not rain this wensday. I was hoping to get the 71 out there this week for its first showing but I have a few items slowing me up. Hopefully I will get all my parts in this week. So I will be in the 72 convert.
