I REALLY like that air cleaner cover... is that a normal thing on pre-70 cars or is that something even more special?
Nice car, Ken! Good to see you on this board with a beauty car, too. 4-speed came with which gears in 67?
Ted, The standard gear ratio for a 67 GS 4-speed is 3:36. The performance (non-special order) ratio was 3:55 (the order form that I received from the original owner indicates "performance rear" in which I checked the rear end and found that it was 3:55 gears). That 66 Wildcat GS convertible (has the optional 3:42 rear)that I told you about is still parked in the storage yard (what a shame - top is gone with no protection) in which I keep checking every month to see if the owner has paid - yes, he keeps paying. Take care Ted!
you can get away with the chevy engine becuase of the kinda 'street rod' classification. but i agree, a BBB would be nicer. still a cool car.:TU:
It's a shame to waste a good looking Buick to hide a 454 Chebby. Way too many Buick rods out there with bowties. It is still a nice looking 56. "That's because you can't see the 454".:Brow:
Man, just hungry for info arent we. LOL. OK, some history. I've been in the 5.0 Mustang crowd for about 10 years now, until recently. I sold my 88 GT which ran in the high 12's with a bone stock 110k mile motor. All suspension work and gearing. Well, I had a 64 Lark back in college(15 years ago) and have always hated that i had to sell it(major Minnesota rust bucket). I had just sold my stang, and happened to be looking at collector car trader online, and saw a couple Skylarks for sale. 1 was a bit far away, but the other(the one I bought) was only 2 hours away. I went and looked at it, gave a deposit, and the seller delivered the car to me the next morning on his way to the Super Chevy race in Pomona. I paid a whopping 1500 for the car. Plans - this is gonna be a street/strip/mild g machine. This weekend I'm picking up a 12 bolt rear, and some ported bowtie heads and an intake for the small block chevy that will end up in the car. The motor plans are simple: build a nice 383 bottom end, combined with the heads andintake and a carb i've had for a while. Second phase of the engine will see fuel injection and twin Grand National turbos. Power thru a built th400 or 700r4. I will make custom rear control arms, use Global West front susp pieces, with HAL coilovers at all corners. The body will remain as close to stock appearing as possible, except for the wheels and tires. Interior will get the resto treatment also, except for a pair of nice seats, a rollcage and harnesses. I've had the car for almost 2 weeks. Here is another couple pics for ya. Phil
