Depends on how you plan to use the car,..the rpm you're swinging it to,..vehicle weight,..vehicle gearing,...piston weight,..alit plays into a block staying together

IMO,..90% of true "block failures" were caused by the operator,..not X amount of HP

I drove my stock rod,..heavy weisco piston,..11.25 to 1,..30° of timing,...9psi of Procharged boost 464 for a couple months pretty damn enthusiastically,....some would have you believe it should have blew up with the first turn of the key,....but it was happy as could be destroying 325/50 Drag radials from 50mph rolls for as long as you cared to feather the pedal,...easily 1k hp

And yes crank and rod load is very different than a NA setup

My engine made 602/589, and it has been together for over 8 years. It has about 50 passes down the 1/4. I keep the RPM under 6000. and avoid even the possibility of detonation down by mixing in race gas at the track.

BTW, a Dyno loads an engine unlike anything you would see on the street or track, especially low RPM pulls.

My understanding is that it's a combination of rpm and hp that hurts them so if you keep one of the two on the low side it can live.
For example make 800hp with boost but keep under 5000 or run 600 but rev to 6500....about the same ...just my theory.
    My Stage 2 makes bout 675 and I shift at 6500....so I'm on the edge.....but 17yrs and 700 passes....I'm lucky, I guess

Larry, I think you have at least another 500 passes left in your motor....another 80 years!! HaHa

I guess he tired of the Buick or he's blown it up?

It’s coming back. Think he just needs some time to plan the cam swap testing and get the heads. I bet we will see it again in the next month
