Cool, Donny. Do I take it that no 1955 or 1956 model year cars had competed by that time? :bglasses: BP
'Prolly so, Tim! Personally and seriously, I'd love to see a hi-po 360 HP 1960 Ford with overdrive compete at the event. With that long throw to second, it would be a real treat to see what a well-prepped one could do. But, boy, finding a stocker one of those would be daunting. :TU: BP
Ah, Tom's old car has raced at Stanton before. These aren't the same as this is a T-37, the ones I mentioned are GT-37. Tom's old car is a 400, while these GT-37s are 455HO.
Oh yeah, I raced Tom in that silver Pontiac at Martin several years ago. It was some good racin', but I won the shootout. Sorry Tom, couldn't resist.
I will be bringing my '74 GTO to race this time. I had just purchased it a couple weeks before this race last year. I tested it last fall after going over the car. Running it the way I got it, she ran in the 16.80's. The distributor was messed up so after going through it and testing again this spring it went 15.70's. Then I changed the rear gear to a 3.42 and got into the 15.30's at Martin. Since then I have went to a 3.90 gear, mandrel bent X pipe system and went 15.17 but lacks power on top so I decided last week to check into the valve train and even with an engine rebuild back in 2007 by the previous owner it had the original valve springs with shims and pretty weak. The cam was a mess with no two lobes the same so I decided last weekend to put in a replacement 555 cam. Just got all the parts yesterday. Springs, cam, lifters, timing chain went in today. Get to race my buddy Mark and hoping to be close enough to where I can still hear his exhausts :Brow: Look forward to seeing everyone in a week. Jody
