Does anyone know what the correct screws are for the long stainless steel flat trim piece that goes at the bas of the windshield?

I have been looking for a long time and just have been using old ones I find. The closest new i have found were zink and not chrome and they will rust fast. I did see in the newest OPG catalog they list chrome wheel well molding screws. the picture they show does not look like wheel well screws but it actually looks like the windshield trim screws. Maybe worth a try.

used my old ones. I took a piece of wood and screwed them in to the end of it. then hit them with a spiral sewn buff and stainless compound on my grinder. looked chrome when i was done.

Go to a building supply store, preferably one that supplies the commercial/industrial sector. Ask for "mod-truss" screws in stainless. Might have to bring them in for you but well worth the wait. Very, very close to original. I used them on my windshield base moulding & also the wheel well opening trim.
Mod -truss is a mushroom Philip's head screw about 1/2" long. Commonly used to screw together steel studs on a construction site. I buy them by the 100 count for about $5.00.

    Thanks guys,

I just ordered the screws from Ames. They show a similar stainless piece for the GTOs and I think the correct screws. I will let you know how I make out.

If any of you guys need the original chrome finish type screws I have them....the trim piece takes 7 screws. $3.50 shipped to lower 48.

Steve, no offense but those look different than original as they do not have the ridge on the head.

None taken. I'm here to learn like everybody else. These were the closest I could find while doing the frame-on resto on the car. Sunny day driver, not a concourse show car.
Don't forget.......mine is an original "one of none made".

Patton's ones look very good, actually. I bought something from him several months ago, and he included a set of his in the package he sent me as a "bonus" for buying whatever it was I bought from him at the time. (Thanks again, Patton!!!). They looked identical to the old rusted ones I had to work at getting out, and worked out great. :TU: :TU: :TU:

    Any screws left for sale?

If you have any more of the screws left after these folks get some of them I will take a set.
    Thanks
    Bert

Just for more information originals had thin plastic washer under the heads. I found some from Mr. G's but they were thicker.
