I just watched that movie again for the 1200 th time and I have to say that movie makes me want to go out and burn rubber!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :3gears: :3gears: :3gears: :3gears: :3gears: Of course I dont need to much of an excuse ...... Its so dumb it holds your attention clear to the end.!!! o No: Anyway I have that song in my head now 'East bound and down, loaded up and truckin, WEre going do what they say cant be done. We got a long way to go and a short time to get there, just watch ole bandit run.....
You're not alone.... :TU: I always feel like sliding around corners after I watch that. My wife just gives me the uzzled: look!!
They keep showing smokey+the bandit 2 over and over here. It's not horribly bad but I'd rather watch the first one. Ever seen the 3rd one? Bah.
Hey Mike, A friend of mine who is a freak about that movie pointed out something to me. Next time you watch it check this out. Where the cars do all their burnouts and skidding, theres already skid marks down from all the practices beforehand!
Watching Cannonball Run always gets me in trouble. A true Saturday afternoon B movie, but man I love that Lamborghini at the beginning.
Love the movie, I watched it last week ...again..... I can't get that image of Frog bending over the front seat trying to get in the back. :Brow: :bglasses:
Yea we pick it all apart all the time. Also when Bufurd looses the door on his car to the semi before the truck gets there the door was closed a second before the semi gets there. ou: And then when he looses the roof it was already cut off if you look at it in several seens etc etc Mistakes were everywhere in that one.....but its still a kool movie. I think when I came out of the theater when it came out every car in the parking lot went sideways as it left !!! :3gears: :3gears: :3gears:
i too love to watch the original smokie & the bandit , uncut , & no commercials . they could not have picked a better actor for buford than jackie gleason .
Jackie Gleason's performance in that movie was flawless....IMHO. And of course you can't miss him in the Hustler either. :TU: Another wonderful performance.
back in 1970 (?) , there was a commercial for the new dodge challenger where a southern fat sheriff with his big dodge police cruiser , pulls over this guy in his new 70 blue high performance dodge challenger & accuses him of driving a race car because of all the hi-po options on the car . maybe u have seen it . jackie gleason's role appears to have been a spin off from the commercial's sheriff .
I love the one where they visit the Steelers parasitic session. I got that scene on tape somewhere. That movie make me want to yank the Buick motor out of my wagon and put it in my Firebird. And then just stomp the pedal and let it spin around in circles for a week, or when the frame start to drag when the rims grind off.
My favorite line - Buford says to his idiot deputy/son - "When I get home, first thing I'm gonna do is slap yo' momma, cause there's NO WAY you came from my loins!"
I actually owned one of the '77 Black/Gold TA's before the movie came out as I bought the car at the beginning of the model year Fall 1976. I remember driving the car over the the theatre when the first S+B movie came out. You should have seen the attention the car got when we left the viewing! Needless to say, I had to burn alittle rubber in Burt's honor when I left the parking lot! After modding the car, it was pretty respectable with the 400 Pontiac engine. 2.56 rear really limited it but in those days, I didn't mind some top end blasts! I'll always have a soft spot for vintage TA's especially the early cars from 69-73.
I concur. Just like Rodney's and Ted Knight's performances in Caddyshack. Perfect. "Suh-suh-suh-sucks?" Smails was the best! Here's a link to download tons of Caddyshack soundbites for your computer. http://www.carlspackler.com/sounds.html
Sound effects?? Ever noticed it sounds like the TA runs thru the entire movie in 1st gear?? I love that sound bite though! When she ask him "are we really going 110?" The speedo previously said like 65 or 70. When he was on 1 of those side roads and it shows a rear shot of the car sliding around in the dust, there is NO license plate. I like the song @ the begining of the movie about the Bandit where he is cranking up the truck and driving it around.
Best comedy movie I ever watched. Like some of you, I have seen it near a 100 times over the years. Duck or you going to be talking out of your ass.
"He's taking a ten one hundred" "When I get home, I'm gonna punch yo mama in the mouth" "Why do you call me frog?" "Cause your cute, like a frog. And I'd like to jump ya." "Your dog bit me, Oh thats cause he doesn't like freaky people" "The fact your a Sheriff is not germaine to the situation" "THE G.D. GERMANS AIN'T GOT NOTHING TO DO W/IT" That was a favorite growing up. That and Blues Brothers: "You got us into this parking lot pal, now you get us out" "The day I get out of jail, my own brother picks me up in a police car" The Blues Brothers made me desperitely want a ratty old 74 Dodge Monaco Mt. Prospect Police Car. What ever happened to low brow, high car chase value, silly movies w/ less plot and more fun? Patrick
