I am not proud of it but I had a Bandit edition TA in high school. Cool car , but a real pig to drive. 403 Oldsmobile power and a 2.31 gear. Not much for laying rubber. They sell all 3 DVDs in a pack for $15. Cant beat that

    thepartsman Back Ordered Again ?

"and don't go home, and don't go to eat,and don't play with yourself,it wouldn't look nice on my highway"....."oh, you can think about it.. but don't do it".

Most of the movie was filmed in No. Ga., Cleveland,Suches,Helen and surrounding towns. Some shots of I85.Most of the crashes on the interstate with the GSP was on Hwy 400 north of Roswell before it opened in the late 70's.The burger joint is the "Yonah Burger" close to Mt. Yonah between Cleveland and Helen. The scene where the wrecker is pulling the sheriff's car out of the water is in Helen and those are most of the towns people in the scene. You can see in one shot where they stopped the "tourist" traffic to film the scene. The "water" is the Chattahoochee River just a mile or so from where it comes out of the ground as a spring. To much trivia and to much to tell. I've burnt rubber and hauled ass on most of those roads years ago. Progress and growth has taken most of it and its hard to find the locations from the movie any more, but if you ever get a chance to put the top down and cruise through the Chattahoochie Nat. Forest in the fall season....wow!

    "You wanted something"?
    "Hushpuppie, Daddy""
"We got no time for that Crap"........"Let me have a diablo sandwich a Dr.Pepper and make it fast I'm in a g..d.. hurry".

    thepartsman Back Ordered Again ?

    If anybody is interested

As we broke for lunch today several of us were engaged in a conversation about favorite movies and of course this movie was at the top of all our lists.
One co-worker said he remembers at the age of 9 he watched the "jumping the bridge" scene and all of the film crew, actors and movie equipment being in all the neighborhoods where he lived. His grandmother still has a photo of him taken with Jackie Gleason in uniform.
Another co-worker said he PDI'd (new car prep) all the Pontiacs used in the movie. They were all delivered to the old Taber Pontiac dealership in Atlanta. All T/A's were 76s with 77 front ends because the 77s were not released yet. The T/A doing all the burnouts had a "built" chevy motor dropped in it at the dealer. The car that did the jump over the Yellow River had its interior stripped out except for the drivers seat and a 5 gallon tank installed where the back seat was and in the trunk was as he called it "some kind of motor to help boost that thing over". Most of the 'A" body Pontiacs that were used for the different state trooper cars except for the G.S.P. cars, were painted only on the side that was to be seen in the movie. He remembered all the cars were changed there at the dealership and were under lock and key every night. He also said that Burt Reynolds totaled one of the T/A's at the fair grounds before filming began.
Sorry for the length of this and bringing it up again but I wanted to share it with all of yall.

As I recently watched the movie again, I noticed that a lot of the police cars had hood scoops on them...What is the story on that???
