You'd better enroll in a remedial course :p

During the period of 1992 to 2007 it was clearly on the rise as the red line illustrates.

In 2008, our economy entered into the great recession, and that certainly meant less goods and services as evidenced by the chart below. Even with that, it would appear that the subsequent years have been largely flat or even dropped.

This relatively flat consumption came even as our population increased by approximately 20 million folks since '08.

You may want to consider that prices at the pump may not be done "rising" over the next few years either.

A lot of us were predicting this sort of price increase ($5 a gallon) in the fall of 2020 because of possible policy changes. A friend recently related to me that these things are "cyclical". That is true to some extent, however, IMHO he is completely disconnected from the reality of the situation, and he isn't rich enough to be that far removed. :D

I'd better what? It's OK to express your opinion but it's not OK to say things about people you've never met. I base my opinion on the 4 semesters of economics I had in college, my experience in senior level positions with 2 fortune 500 companies and running my own global business for 18 years. I made no comments about you, your comments about me are totally invalid and inappropriate.

My single comment that maybe considered offending is directed at the notion WE needed lectured.

As already stated, opinions, even dissenting ones, are okay. A lecture, to me, comes from an overly authoritarian standpoint. I would like to consider us all equals on V8Buick, whether a mechanic or a Titan of Industry.

It was simple poke back at a minor rub that left me a little raw. The tongue out is not the finger :D

Calm down ladies.. no argument is going to persuade those who have already made up their mind.

It's a colossal waste of time and energy.

Thanks for the input guys, let's move on.
