I used Bounce the first time but this time I used the Gain..You really have to work it in..Those stains were from the steering wheel ick. I did my the other wheel about a year ago..Still not sticky.

    What I want to know...

Is who was the first person that figured out that wiping a wheel with dryer sheets takes the sticky away? Who does that? Lol

Maybe they didn't have a towel or napkin or t-shirt or something to wipe the wheel with and dryer sheets was all they had, and by accident, found out there was no more sticky.

    Just weird. Ha!

    Nice job on yours though.

I sent my sticky wheel to a board member and had it wrapped in leather + some additional (optional) padding. I think it came out really nice. I'm considering sending my GS wheel to be wrapped, too. It feels a lot better than the hard rubber and the additional padding keeps the hands from fatigue.

    docgsx It's not a GTX

I'd like to send my Jeep steering wheel to that person.

Thanks for the support. I was pretty much done with my sticky wheels and decided to try something different. It worked pretty well.

Sorry, that referenced thread didn't get much attention and I, apparently, didn't get the notifications or lost them somewhere.

I can do any color that WheelSkins.com has and in any stitch color that I can buy. I have lacing in black, red, darker gray and a darker blue currently on hand.

This is my 71 442 that has been in the garage since around 1990. I'm afraid if I touch the steering wheel I'll be stuck like a mouse on a sticky trap.
I probably raced some of you guys on the street during the late 80s in Bowling Green.

I've got one that's almost as bad as Pat's and Don's. Shame as otherwise it's a super nice wheel.

Dryer sheets worked, but the sticky came back pretty quickly.

You'll have to scrape that one to get the sticky off. I was cleaning mine once a year with Goof Off, a really thick, soapy spray meant to get decal glue off. It would keep it from being too sticky for about 6 months and I'd live with it for the rest of the year before I'd do it again. Got tired of it and wrapped it.

I went with the leather wrap way back around 1980 to change the color to dark blue. It still looks near new! I've done that on all my sport wheels, I never had to deal with the 'funk'.
There are leather covers avail on Amazon/eBay for under $20. I put a $19 Amazon cover on my Bronco..... and then my buddy posted a pic of his $12 eBay cover that I like a lot better!

    wheelz 'B' is for Buick.

I applied WD40 (mostly fish oil ingredient) sprayed on. Let sit. Wiped off. Repeated this several times and voila! NO MORE STICKY... Perhaps some of you will have the same results... Just say'n.
