Wow. What a great time! 74 + factory stockers. It was real hot, but a great time. All quick 8 cars had to remove valve covers for inspections, and since JJ and Six Pak were the only cars in the 11's, they were asked to pump with the breast pump. Both cars passed easily. While we were at it, the Omish tuner was running 12.80's  (sleeper of the year award), so he was asked to pump. He too passed. In the quick 8, I raced Mrs P in the orange L88, and won that round. Second round was against JJ. I feed him the tree roots first and won the race. So now it was me and 6 Pak or Hemi K if ya will. Great run, and I got a good jump on the tree but lost by .07  Great race. Won $300 from Year One :TU: Thanks guys, Won a brand new posi carrier of my choice from Eaton for the best reaction time of the week-end :TU: Thanks guys! And won some race fuel donated by Wayne Nelson as a door prize. Look out Bobby..... Read this again...... Just won some fuel from Wayne Nelson......! :TU:
Lots and lots of prizes. Dave H won four new poly's. Tim Clary won a LM1 unit.etc etc etc.
The parking lot cook off reached a new level as well.
There was no place else on earth I wanted to be at this week-end! Thanks to all, it was a party!

Oh ya.... Quick 8 of Factory Stock was
Jimmy J with the Vette, Six Pak Bob with his Hemi, COPO PETE with the Camaro, Paul Petcou, with his Six Pak. Mark Weymouth with the GTO. Jim Spetzman with his 6 Pak, Tracy Doyle with Pauls Challenger and Julie Pennington with the Vette. I have the last four order wrong I think, so maybe someone can clarify that.
Benoit beat the crap outta the Ford Mustang till he got a high 12. Brian Stafina ran a 13.0 I believe, and Tim Clary should have made the quick 8, but was too busy running the gamblers race and got the car too hot and missed the quick 8 by .010 I believe. Ken Riebel won $350 cash for the gamblers race.

    Ohh what fun!!!

Had a great time!!! ATE WAYYYY TOOOOOO MUCH!!!!! It's hard to stop eating when a hot greek woman is feeding you kabobs!!! As for all the gumbo from benoit--- Well he looked pretty good to after all the suds!!!!! hahahahaha :Dou: :beer
Thanks for pointing that out about the 1 tenth deal PETE. Salt in a wound is always appreciated!! :spank: I think I would of been better off losing to a 12.20 of MR Spetzman than a supposed to be slower FAST car going 11.90!!!!!! :Dou: Ken your the man.. I guess a .4978 isn't a perfect light. :ball:
Once I got booted out of the quick 8- I took the frustration out on my car and ran a 12.33 @ 115.3 ( new mph record for me  ) Only needed a 12.50 to be quick 8 -- o well. someone had to be F.A.S.T chum. :moonu:
Thanks for the awesome door prize- 12.20's here I come.
Had a great time seeing everyone- can't wait till September !!!

Then there was the plowboy named Small!!! The car ran a new personal best at one of these events Friday morning with a 13.36@102.5 :Brow:! I started to have issues with it running out of fuel, opened the fuel filter and had a small handful of rubber come out! :eek2: Got that issue remedied but not until Saturday morning  and I qualified at a 13.58. Turns out that Hodges 'Cuda ends up running a (drum roll please)....13.58! We go over 700 miles to settle a grudge race that could have been done at KCIR!! 2 and done!!!(Oh yeah, I won!!! :pp ) I ran a 13.46@ 102.7 for second round of eliminations.

Oh yeah, I have to give Stefina kudos for running that car hard. We had just one run of our grudge race, but Brian was victorious! :3gears: He ran a 13.46 to my 13.63. It was a close race! (I will bring your reward at Stanton!)

And a special shout-out to the cookin' racers! The Three-river gang, our lil' friend from Louisiana, and Bruno (and his wife) made certain that no one went hungry!!!! We may start out coming to these for the racing, but it is the friends, food and fun that occur in the parking lot that make these events unforgetable. Although, the parking lot looked like an AA meeting gone bad!!! :beer :Dou:

    Youse guys are crazy

Had a great time with all, what a bunch of great folks, got beat by an x-Buick GN 8.52 racer in a slow '69 Chevelle 396 4-speed, well slow, but faster than me, by a bit, but was a great couple of days, look foward to next year maybe I'll have the valve job done that I won from Greg, and maybe it'll be on the GSX #14, next Pure Stock GSX in a year or so I hope. :Dou: See You all in September!

    Benoitment all-purpose rub

Hey Pete if you and a lot of other guys had rubbed a little Benoitment on your tires you probably could have picked up a tenth and pulled it off :Dou: How do you think that I got in the 12s. It will repair, soften, harden, or rejuvenate on just about anything you rub it on! (from egg gathering machines to hearst shifters). Even my wife uses it on..never mind.To order yours today, call 555-rubb. :TU: My lil pony is tired!Gonna rub a little on him next week.Hope to be riding a cougar 428 elim in September.

This reminds me of a local guy, who at his 50th wedding anniversary party, said this at the toast to his family - "50 years ago tonight your mother sat on the edge of the bed and cried because she was afraid it was to big to fit, well tonight it's my turn" :Dou:

Fabulous time this weekend. I wanted to thank all the FAST/Year one guys and to also put a special thank you out to Pete and JJ for doing all the tech for us PS guys.

RDL we will get Jody rolling better this fall. It was a good start with a sub driver anyways.

Roberta great to have you come out and nice to meet you.

My weekend ended up being made when I put the worn out old goat into the quick 8. Being the only Pontiac in there amongst all those snarling Mopars and 427 cubed aluminum wearing Chevy's was fun. Everyone took it easy on my poor CID deficient, over weight four speed girl and let me play for three rounds. I also turned a personal best in the car Friday and came back on Saturday and upped the level by a full tenth +.

I especially want to give some props out to Bruno. Out of the trailier at your first event running 12.50's!!! Way to go that car sure is great and glad Dan pulled you not me.

Much more fun being a two day event....

A whole lot of really close racing. :3gears:

If we can keep folks from "Clumping" we will be eating like kings at Stanton.

Not that we didn't at Martin.

The Merc came close again to that elusive 12.999.......but on the plus side it retained it's fluids. :Dou:

I hope the Terry, Greg and company can pull this fun event together again next year. :TU:

    Thanks so much Mark!
Everyone asks me how the racing was and all I can talk about is the
great people we met this past weekend.
I'm going to work on my driving/tuning abilities this summer and hopefully join you in the super 8 round at stanton.

The camraderie and calibre of racing went way beyond anything I expected.
    can't wait for Stanton!
