First a Mopar & now a Ford. No more beater. These really are crazy times we're living in, lol. Go for it!
After riding in the A/C & hitting the PW switches, etc. in the umpteen-speed automatic Charger one gets soft. At least (I think) the Aquamist car does have PS.
Not that this is relevant to this conversation but I think that's why the restomods are so popular now. Most of us have gotten used to the "creature" comforts of modern handling, stopping & shifting so when we get into our old factory stock muscle car it's not as enjoyable. I know for myself after having driven cars with overdrive for the last 20 something years hopping into a car with a three speed revving at 3000 rpm isn't as enjoyable unless I'm in the throttle. Sign of the times I think.
If that is what you want, go for it! There are a lot of cars out there that I would like to have that are not Buicks.
My friend Bill's actual car. 4k miles. 5 speed tremec. fuel injected sbf. Bill used to be a Backdraft dealer before the '08 crash. This car has not been raced or wrecked. Shows and Sunday drives. Bill doesn't believe in "posi" on these cars...and he can testify as to why. PM if you'd like more info. https://www.backdraftracing.com/
Good memories are hard to ignore bud .. my car at 17 was a 67 289 hi-po 4 gear it never let me down .. I pulled most small blocks to the finish line .. go for it Jason
Jason, if you could pick an engine/trans combo knowing it's a replica, just curious what you'd choose if you could keep it authentic in appearance. Would you stay 289, or go for something like a 347?
I just took the 17 year old '03 Z06 out for a spin. Yes Dan, you are right. The new mid engine vette is still on my list to buy....
I tried but nobody listens to me. If he wants to drive around in a glorified MG Midget I will be happy for him
I installed a 351HO crate engine back in about 1990. 385HP. 5 Spd. Mustang X box & 4.10 Posi gears. Painted it the same color as my 69 Charger RT/SE. Q5 Which was sold about 10 years ago. Added a scant amount of chrome & NO stripes. Would get 22MPG IF I kept my foot out of it. Ran about 2K RPM's at 70 MPH with the overdrive. Ran it a couple times & turned a best of 11.96ET. 427 body out of N.Dakota 2" wider & 6" longer for easier entry & exit. Far superior in my mind body quality than the other of the same name from Flor. I've enjoyed it now for more than 24yrs.
Might as well go all out... https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1...e=dm&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=2020-08-20
