Congrats to Ted Harbit for the feature in the August Hemmings Muscle Machines. Nice article on the flyin' Red Tomato!! First the Chicken Hawk '51, then the "Tomato", and I bet his twin turbo Avanti will be next!! :kodak: :kodak:

    Frank,
You beat me to the punch! I was going to announce that HMM was going fruity or that they had started produce stand. So which is it? A fruit or a veggie! I could see Ted pawning a certain Veggie cocktail saying, "It has a V8!":kodak: Congrats to Ted and the Stude!:3gears:

Ted was also in Hot Rod last year, and was honored at this year's Hot Rod reunion at Nat Trails last Month. He's an 8 Time class winner at the Nationals in Indy, and he and his wife are two of the nicest people I've met drag racing or anywhere else. He deserves every accolade he gets, we should all represent our sport so well.:TU: :TU: :Comp:

Congrats, Ted. You probably don't remember annihilating a 1952 Ford at Milan in the 60's, but I sure do. :beers2:

In 1966, Ted was an NHRA Nationals winner. What class, and *gasp*, what was the brand of car he did it in ??? :)

Had to be a Studebaker. And I think that it was M/S?

It says K/S, but I'm pretty sure it was lower than that. My flathead ran in that class the few times I raced it, and each year they added new classes at the top and we were pushed even lower in the alphabet. I was M/S and I think maybe ever R/S the last time I ran that car.

Seems to me Studebaker-Packard closed up shop for good in the Spring of 1964, so maybe by 1966, he raced something different than a Studebaker?

In '66 it was N Stock. The last year I ran it was V Stock. Yes, every year was a Stude.
