What I meant in my earlier post was a meet with the locals. I am in for what ever meets you guys can organize, but it would be nice to get some monthly meets together.
Well, I only won two rounds in the bracket race, but I did knock 3 tenths off my ET playing with shift points and better launch technique!!!
Presently at 9.25 @ 75 (1/8th mile.) That's with a high milage stock 74 Electra TH400 that is SLOWLY considering going into third at the top end, and only 30 degrees advance. Need to do some more dist curving... I know it's got 8s/13s in it easily. All stock except TA 212 cam.
Phil, do we have an head count on who would be interested in the Buick get together from the Austin/SA area? And I believe it was Neal from the Houston area, do you guys have a head count? Anyone on the board from the West Tx and East Tx area?? The Dallas/Ft Worth area has a meeting this weekend and will do an head count. Phil would an Poll make sense?
David everyone i have talked to in austin seem intrested. They are asking me dates. Unfortunatly I am unable to provide them without everyones input. what do you suggest we poll I have a few suggestions such as intrest on attending an event. or which time is the best to have such an event. On saturday We can guage the amount of intrest at the BBQ/meeting. from the Dallas Fort Worth area. Have you sent an email through the club- just curious.
I have sent a link on this thread to our email list, and a lot of our members monitor the TurboBuick board as well but I haven't spoken to many in person, was kind of waiting for the meeting. For a date maybe late June or Sept?? Your thoughts? I have left a message for Todd at Rivercity Raceway, but haven't heard back from him yet. I will try him again tomorrow.
david, I am ready for just about any date we throw out there. Now it is time to see what part of the year they want to get together. I started this thread with a very broad idea. Now we can throw some broad ideas on which months to see when people would opt to go. then we can define a date once we have a time frame to work with.
70 Skylark Conv said:Speaking of the meeting next weekend... I'm thinking about attending your meeting next Sat. Anyone driving from the Denton-Lewisville area that I might be able to hook up with? Buick hasn't been out on the road in a while and don't have a cell phone in case of a major melt down during the big 20 mile drive. Dee Hey David... Didn't get any takers on hooking up for the drive in to the meeting Sat. Thanks for trying. Going to try to make it though. Can you tell me how long your meetings usually are so they'll know when to send the search party out for me? Dee
Dee, You probably could walk there and have a drink before I will show up from austin. See you there!
I don't want to hear the word "walk". That's why I was trying to find someone to hook up with for the short drive. Just in case the Buick gives out and makes me walk. :af: :ball: Everyone be on the look-out for the girl in the white Skylark. She'll be the one that's lost in the city traffic or trying to park her tank in the parking lot!!!! Do we get to drink :beer at these meetings? I thought they only served cobbler?
I had one person respond I thought maybe they had emailed you? I would say a couple of hours. If you have any problems call me on my cell phone 214 629 7429. See ya there.
You can park that tank next to the other tanks! Drinking? are you over 18?:beer :beer :beer Hell I might even buy you one! More:beer :beer :beer
I didn't hear from anyone. I'm off work tomorrow and don't have internet at home, so I'll just have to go it alone Sat. Took the 'lark to work yesterday and didn't have a problem. Just hope the gas leak doesn't get worse!:eek2: Thanks for your #. If I have a problem, and someone is kind enough to stop with a cell, I'll give you a call for a tow!!! I've packed my duct tape, so I should be able to fix anything that goes wrong. :beer Thought drinking age around here was 21???? :beer Let me rephrase things; Everyone be on the look-out for the 18 year old girl in the white Skylark.... NOT!!!!
I didn't want to admit it but it was 18 for me too back then. The old Skylark made it home ok Sat. night. I enjoy driving it around town, but hit traffic on I35 and didn't enjoy that much! It was worth it though. Got to meet a bunch of really nice people and really enjoyed seeing and hearing all the T-Buicks and GS's. I've got the itch again. Got the need for speed.:spank: Thanks for making me feel welcome to the group. It's hard being a woman interested in a "mans" hobby.:moonu: Dee
So there are car club shootouts every month at San Antonio (River City) Raceway. They list 2/16, 3/16, 4/27, 5/18, 6/22, 7/20, etc as dates for 'em. Any interest in getting the Buick club(s) out for one, vs some other club(s)? In fact on the 4/27 date we are also having the "BBZ Memorial Shootout" (see texasracingscene.com, Austin Racing section, sticky at top) which will be pretty big for the Austin and San Antonio area guys to begin with. Might be worth considering? TurboTR
Glad you enjoyed the meeting and made it safely home. We hope to have our best year yet, and we can't do that without members like you! See ya at the next event.:beer :beer
