After I took the carpets out, I vacuumed out all the flaky rust. Not terrible for a 60 year old car thst was left for dead in a field. I'm thinking I'm going to hit it with a wire brush next. Maybe some por 15 and a little fiberglass mat over the couple of holes. Not the best repair but we're just trying to get the car drivable.

Boy, I gotta update this thread...

Front floors were wire brushed, painted with rustoleum rusty metal primer. The few holes were glassed over. Carpets and console are back in.

My self rebuilt master took a dump on me. I reluctantly had to drop it off at Apple Hydraulics to get sleeved and rebuilt....again. Master got reinstalled today and bled out. Nice high pedal.

Replaced the brake switch so we have brake lights again....kinda important.

Front drums are warped. Have to take those off and bring them to my friends shop. Probably the only repair shop that still cuts drums and rotors...

Tomorrow the trunk seal gets replaced so I don't get carbon monoxide poisoning.

Took it thru the drive thru at Starbucks tonight:D. Doesn't like getting shifted fast:p Grinds into second if I'm a little too exuberant. Probsbly a worn synchro. Have to remind myself thst I'm not in the X :D

The cat had no blower motor operation and the slide on the dash was frozen.

All the contacts under the hood were corroded. One connector was outright broken. I took it all apart. Got the slide mechanism freed up after cleaning the dried grease off and lubing the heck out of it. All the contacts were cleaned up. Replaced a few spade connectors. And we now have all blower speeds!

I also took the resistor out and cleaned out the remnants of the mouse house in the heater core housing. Luckily I was able to get the vacuum cleaner in there

Front drums were turned on Wednesday. I measured them before and they were literally 12.000! Thanks to @Trophyblue442 for manning the aamco brake lathe for me. It's been decades since I cut drums.

Anyway, theyre now 12.020 and 12.025 . Probably enough meat left for 3 more brake jobs. It'll take Eric 156 years to drive it enough for 3 brake jobs!

So we have heat AND the brakes won't rattle your fillings out when stopping!

    Few more odds and ends....

    Please don't take offense CJay..
Is the air cleaner on just temporary? I placed mine on the wrong way on my 66 Wildcat and the throttle got stuck at wide open. It wasn't wasn't a pleasant experience:eek:

Good question! That's the position it likes in order for that NOT to happen. Ask me how I know lol

    LOL!
I see the indent on the bottom of air cleaner up front. The 66 Wildcat has the mechanical arm and spring setup that clears that indent. Now that I look I don't see it on yours.
Has to be the 66 had the plunger switch for the kick down and switch pitch that needed that arm.
I still almost pee my pants 45 years later thinking about:D

While my carb rebuild was good, the throttle shafts were pretty worn and the throttle lever off the primary shaft loosened up where it was swaged. So I dropped it off with Jim at Allstate. Here's what I got back. It's like a cherry on a turd! :D:D I can get used to this spending other people's money deal..

Runs exceptionally well. It's to the point where you can just hop in it and go!

Next moderately warm day, im hitting the paint with steel wool or a scotchbrite bad and using Derek Bieri's linseed oil, mineral spirit concoction he calls "shine juice".. gonna try and spiff this car up a bit.

Before I read the post, when I first glanced at the picture, I thought you got a new Edelbrock carb for it.

    Looks really nice... like new!

I took the Wildcat to Bruno's Christmas eve party last night.

Drove her around all day yesterday running errands and what not. She was a little grumpy when i first started it but didn't miss a beat even in 17 degree weather. Filled it with a fresh tank of fuel and made the 50 mile round trip to Bruno's. On the way home, I even got a little frisky and cruised at 70!

She did great! The heat was lukewarm but I think she was running a little cool in the frigid Temps.

I donated these Autometer gauges to Eric. They were in the GSX when I bought it from Mike. They definitely go better in the Cat. Disregard the oil on the mat. The old oil pressure gauge started leaking worse than the Exxon valdez...

And now with a working water temp gauge, we now know why I had lukewarm heat Christmas eve...engine won't go past 160.

And I did the nasty....I washed the car with 0000 steel wool. It definitely brightened up the paint. Cleaned the jambs up, gave the interior the once over, cleaned the glass. Too late for pics unfortunately. Really looks good though

I might do the linseed oil treatment if I csn get a decent day.

    Looks good Clem,

I'll never understand why Autometer sells a temperature gauge like that. Mine goes from 120-240. Why have a gauge that reads to 280*?

Updates on this Jason? Looked like you've had a lot of side projects on your whatsi going on in your garage thread and it led me to enquire about the cat.

I forced Eric to take his car back. Lol. Its basically done. Done meaning it does everything now a car should do- stop, start and steer. There are probably a 100 small projects to do on it.

I'll probably go into Eric's shop one of these days (I have the key), steal it, leave the GSX there and start knocking sone more things off his list

After a year of driving it, Eric has decided to sell the Wildcat. I think he's asking 21,500 which is basically what he has in it.

I can tell you that it's a turn key car. All you have to do is wash it and change the oil
