GM color 96 called Cayenne Red Metallic. It's a funky color. It looks dark red in some lights. Reddish glold in others. Definitely looks best in outdoor light.

I paid them more since they had to deal with my rattle can primer.. But still, it was dirt cheap. I tipped them and bought them beer too..

It's funny. The guy pointed out one little tiny place where he dripped some sweat and said ( if it doesn't buff out I'll re-paint the door). I never would have seen the spot.

It's a great feeling to put things back on the car.

I haven't decided how much of the trim work will go back. The stainless on the gutters will not at this point. The stainless on the hood will not. Still thinking. There is no wheel well trim, and there is no place to put if there was. The mirror will soon be body color.

    It will be different...

Give me a few days.. The bumpers, emblems, grille, and trim have all been shined and cleaned up VERY nice. I want to put the front bumper on, but I know it's easier to get the engine in with it off. The hoist I have will just barely make the stretch from the front..

You think it might look fat?? :Do No: With 8-10 lbs of boost, if it blows up, I have a spare.. PIcs and updates coming soon.

    Update..

Exterior is done. Interior is done. Engine done and is sitting in place. I can start putting the exhast on tonight.Waiting on the tranny. Still need a few little parts before I can test fire the engine.. It sure is pretty though.

The springs were wrong and I had to replace them. The rear looked like truck springs. I really had trouble getting them out. The front were way too thick as well.

The steel brake line in back is leaking. Gotta fix that.

I still need a fuel solution..

Jay that car looks great. You have come a long ways since I saw it back in May. I'll have to stop by next time I'm in your neck of the woods and get another look at it. Maybe go for a spin :Brow:

The title of this thread is funny. "Salvage" seems like such an understatement!

Jay, I can't wait to see the twin turbo setup installed. I'm toying with the idea of a twin turbo setup for the drag car :Brow:

I just want to see it run and drive at this point..

The turbos are still a ways off, and I'm sure there will be additional hurdles.. I still wonder how the exhaust is going to ever fit down through there??

Bump for my favorite build! Any new progress? I can help you figure out the D.P. routing. I snaked 3" mandrel bent D.P.'s around my steering column and brake lines. It's tight through there, but it can fit.

I was more concerned with the Plasti-kote & DupliColor primer. :puzzled: :eek2:

The Plasti-kote and duplicolor had no issues.. The Rust Oleum made a big friggin mess..

Still moving along. I plan to test fire the engine on October 10th.. I'll be at the beach next weekend.. Just finished installing the exhaust.. Man was that alot harder than I thought it would be. (by myself, laying on the floor, with no existing hangers)..

I'm using a mechanical fuel pump for now.. Got my little 13lb. Dyna Batt mounted.. Still have some time consuming little things to do. A buddy of mine is supposed to bring me a working alt. and starter. If not, I will just go buy them.

Still waiting on the torque converter and transmission but should be ready any day now. Still moving along. When I do get it up and driving, I plan to step back and take a break for a bit. It has truly been a lot of work over the past 10 months.
