Metalic (silver,alumi,gold,etc..) color are way more difficult to do than semi or gloss solid color . I had some issue with my cluster's silver (spray can) , but the black went out verrrrry nice !

When I did mine, I went off the wall. I painted it all flat black, and then hand silver just on the front. I know it is not how it is supposed to look, but it actually looks good. I'll get some pics pretty soon.

    Factory original colors?

I'm doing the same thing with my grille, and just want to know what the factory colors were supposed to be, so I can make it look original. If anyone can give me that info, that'd be great. I'd pick the spray cans up tomorrow, sand lightly for adhesion, then spray on the silver/aluminum, then black.

It's actually a Special grille for the Skylark convertible, but since it's my brother's (I sold it to him for $1K), less skin off my nose. Only difference is that center bar that's thicker on the Special than the Skylark.

Would someone have a Skylark grille, but needs a Special? Silly question? Its only flaw is a very small chunk was taken out of the center vertical bar. I plan to use plastic putty, form to shape, sand then paint. Should be very easy. Eric (ewojcieszak@yahoo.com).

Just realized that the underside of the grille is totally black. That sucks! How could anyone repaint their grille as originally intended by spraying the black (satin?) before the dull aluminum? Still need to know from someone what the original colors were. Thanks, Eric.
