I have no flipping idea how I did it now. I would like to say that I removed the plastic sheath from the connector, but yours won't fit...I don't remember this being a big hassle to install, though I'm not so sure about that being a drain hole. It's not the lowest part of the trunklid if it's open, and when the trunk's closed, it's at the highest part. Water would sit in there forever, that hole wouldn't let it out. I can't see how water gets in there... Some shenanigans might have been perpetrated on the car I got that off, but as far as I could tell, it was all factory. Just crunched.
