Guy suggested in another thread that i run the car as is to back up the 10.15 quarter mile time it ran with the previous owner.

I will not do this though because the stock axles are on borrowed time and the stock rods and bolts are not going to be happy for long.... I am not running it at the track till i get some moser axles and a good engine in there....

Good axles are a must but capscrew rods are pretty durable. . Turbo v6 guys are running 10s with 30 plus pounds boost. It will hold up for a while. Don't be afraid of it. Just go. I got my season pass for great lakes drag. I will burn the tires off something this year.

I am not interested in pushing the limits of the stock rods, we already know the limits of when they fail and it makes a big mess when they do... Darryl R. already found out where the capscrew rods with ARP fasterners come apart....

    What Andy says,:Smarty:

Go have some fun with it. Besides, it's together and ready to run low 10's. Doesn't get any better than that.:TU:

Good answer, I knew the excuses would come because the car never did 10's now did it? If it did it once it can do it again. Go there and show me a 10.70 time slip and I will shut my mouth PERMANENTLY. That should be fair since I went 11.80 on nitrous and weigh in at 3800. That is 900 more than you this should be a piece of cake.

That is what my brothers Pro Charged 347 Mustang runs. You tell me you can beat that, I think not.

You going to tell me the 455 guys did not use stock axles to go 10's I bet they are at 11 sec on the nose with stock axles. Heck, they are twisting the stock block to go 10's. Take your car and show us what it can do. No second that,
WHAT THE 350 BUICK CAN REALLY DO.

Tell me what is your quote of a "Good Motor"

This car has been played for the past 5 years as being a bad ass and now you have a chance to prove the worthiness of the Buick 350 and now you are going to wait for your Good Motor to go in. I thought this one was such a bmf. This will take another 5 years. in 5/20/20. Yeah I put a date on it ha ha.

You have the one with the hand built intake and twin turbos.

So what if it blows up you have a garage full of motors. Tow the thing home and see what happened.

I don't think you have the Guts to take that thing to the track and run it out, would probably have to go wipe.

It's funny, now all of a sudden stock rods and such can't handle the power. Tell me then, How does gsjohnny do it with a blower on top and turning 7 grand and it has not gone through the pan yet? Tell me I want to know. What, does he have those special rods with the titanium bolts.

Having a Hot Rod means there is a race just around the corner, unless of course yours is just going to be a Garage Queens where we just bench race it with numbers and desk top dynos. You put that thing on the street and you do not get into a race or race it, the word will get around, and don't take it to the track, that will make you look even better, now much do you want to bragg.

You are the one that holds the key, the book, the information, the Hot Rod, The Buick 350 with the turbos 2 of them and you are not going to take it to the track because it might blow up or you might break something, Well Boo Hoo. :ball:

You my friend are full of crap.

If I offended you in any way I am sorry but the facts are the facts.

It is time to put up or shut up. :moonu:

Its not time to put up or shut up yet, come on there aren't even any tracks open yet north of the Mason Dixon line. At least give him til what I think in the frozen north the tracks probably don't even open until June? Not sure but I know that they don't open here until next month some time.

Your rant may have been pre-mature I thinks.

Sean, when does your local track open in June through September? That's when the snow is gone up there isn't it?

One last post and then I am taking a long long break from the negativity here.

Yes the track is not going to be open for a few more months at least, we are expecting snow tmrw. I am taking the engine out, doing some stuff to the car, and it will not run again until the girdled engine has been dynod with the alum heads and turbos. I have some things I need to do to make the car street legal again, and other things need to be done to pass tech at the track. I am not going to rush for anyone else I am doing it how I want and I am not going to rush out to the track. My life is worth a heck of more with a family to take care of and I don't think it makes me a pussy because I want to upgrade the axles etc to handle the power. I recently found out the engine has bone stock early style rods so it is not going to last long. As many of you know when a rod lets go in a Buick 350 it makes a huge mess, taking out a lot of parts when things start hitting each other... Im sorry but I have seen pictures of 350s that have let go and i certainly do not want to oil down the track and or loose control at speed
WHEN the rods let go. Sonny Seal lost his car over a coolant line they are pretty sure, it happens quick!

I considered taking the car as is to the chassis dyno and cranking the boost to see what it does, and I might still do that.

It must be making about 650 hp as is, would be nice to see the dyno chart and I may still do it.. If the engine blows no big deal on the chassis dyno compared to at 130 mph.

I am out, you guys can wait and buy the book if you want to hear how it turns out or not I don't care... All I know is that this is a hobby for me and I enjoy helping others... I have been helping others on here for years and I really enjoyed it. In fact when I joined I needed a lot of guidance from people on here and I am still learning as we all should.

I am not afraid to hire a pro to build me an engine or do my head porting, its a smart investment! I never claimed to know everything or be a pro engine builder i just love helping people build better Buicks to enjoy. Part of that is compiling information, data, and knowledge about sbb performance. This does not mean I claim to know everything or have the fastest car etc. Someone will always run faster, run to your own goals and enjoy the hobby.

Like Jim in another thread I do deserve to be given a hard time by the 455 guys because i bash their week blocks, but its the 350 crowd that should help join my effort to prove the 350s advantages over the 455 not just give me a hard time.

Even if i never shared any of my future dyno or track times the truth would come out about the potential of these engines. With the heads and intake, it wil be a home run! Thank goodness we kept promoting the potential!!

You guys know it all anyway so you don't need my input here on the board, no problem have fun.

    What are the limits?

I came across this thread today, while doing research on oiling mods.

Look at post #13 dated 10-15-2007

I'm sure if I tried I could find an older post of yours saying the same thing. You've been poking the BB guys here for YEARS. Now one guy has laid into you, and your taking your ball and going home? He may have been a bit abrasive, but I think his point is a good one. Take that car and show us how fast it is.

You are part of the reason that I decided to build a 350. I hope you develop some thicker skin, and stick around.

I do not think so one bit. He is leaving not because of the heat or the negativity, the kitchen just got too hot.

There is nothing negative about what I said, this guy is supposed to be your go to guy for 350 info he has the car and he is pulling it off the market so no one will bother him on it. You can read about it in the book when you buy it.

I thought my bet was fair 10.70 should be easy, now the car cannot pass inspection at the track. See it just goes on and on and on.

Now you all will never know because I just messed it all up.

I guess I just garaged another car and I did not even have to race it.

Sonny Seal had a crash at Norwalk and if the hose came off , that kind of thing can happen to anyone.

See Larry Dixon's rail bust in half at 300 mph, Last week. Can happen to anyone all part of racing.

    5/20/20 guess what this means.

I feel like we watch all these builds so closely hoping someone will have a video or timeslip of a crazy fast pass to back up what we all hope will happen. It's hard for many to get behind building this magical motor that only a handful of people take to the track. Not trying to offend you Sean but your build is another build years in the making that keeps teasing us. Life happens, stuff comes up but still.

I'm not worried about the limits anymore. I'm not worried about what will work and what wont. I don't care it's a Buick motor and not a Chevy and special this and oiling that. I'm going to take my stock shortblock, clean the heads, slap a roller setup in there and crank up the boost. We will know what happens before the end of this year. Look for me at Lebanon this May testing out the motor NA before the turbos.

I for one believe that car should easily be in the 10s. My car should have been mid 11s or so on 1/4 mile track. 7.67 @ 92 was a common number for me (1/8th), and I could not get the 60 ft much better than 2.0. This was a full weight 72 Skylark. Even had 2 subwoofers in the trunk.

I'm kind of glad I sold it before someone died because I don't have any friggin sense sometimes. I once saw the speedometer pointed almost straight down, and it was correct too. That was stock everything, even an iron intake.

It is kind of time for some others to do something though.
