Diego's right, I had a '73 GTO, base engine was a 230 hp, 8:1 ,400. The 455was also 8:1 and 250 hp. In '72 you could still buy an HO 455, (talk to Weymouth) that still used the round port heads, although the chambers were the size of bathtubs @111 cc. '73 was supposed to be the year for the SD in the GTO, never happened. Cars Magazine's car of the year was an SD 455 GTO! Phantom car. I tried to buy one, Dealer thought I was looney. :laugh:
The GTO reverted back to an option in '72, though, so it joined the SS with the 4-4-2 for that distinction. I think the GS was still a model - at least for the Skylark.
AHA! Score one for the old farts! :laugh: Was the GS at Buick the equivalent of the 442 at Olds and GTO at Pontiac, and the Stage I equivalent to the next step up like the W30? What was it on Pontiac? Ram Air IV, etc?

There is a 72 442 (455) White on white convertable for sale in S.Jersey that I haven't seen in person but in picks and looks real nice and have been told its clean by my freind who into custom car building-if any Olds fans are interested I can find out more. Mike
