Wanted: 1969 Console Part--Glove Box Latch and screws etc. (see missing part)
Do any of the Buick brothers have these parts in your stash that you would like to sell?
Have the lid latch part but need the part or parts that the lid latch goes in to when you
    close the lid...
There is a plastic part laying in the bottom of the glove box (see pictures) that I believe
goes possibly with the part or parts that I'm looking for.
Just got this console recently and am in the process of restoring it.

Eric, I feel your pain in finding these parts. I have a 68 and a 69 GS with console's and have been looking for the male latch, the one you have, in the lid, for a number of years. I need to look at my cars and see if I have an extra part you are looking for. I did look in my parts and have 2 but I think they are for my cars. Cars are in the storage building here at home but the weather is kinda bad. Will try to look in a few days and post back. Thanks.

I agree .. the part you have is usually the hard one to find.

I won't be up in the garage attic for a while where my consoles and parts are but next time I am up there I will have a look

Eric - when you do get one (the pics posted look correct) put a little dab of RTV behind the mounting ears that sit flush with the compartment walls so you are not relying only on the mechanical force of the screws to hold it in proper position.

... the screw only contact will loosen up over time and tightening the screws repeatedly will either strip the holes or bust the mount.

I "think" the screws for this are the same as for the hook attaching it to the door

Mike yes that is the one. Is this one for sale or just for reference? Do you have the other part that goes in the lid? If you have and extra I am interested.

Eric, I will look to see if I have and extra.

    Thanks.

This one goes with a complete console set up that I have. I might have another if I dig deep.

Eric - you PM box is full so I'll reply here ...

.. back in time someone once posted about this latch and that it was pretty much a generic latch used for cabinetry etc .. at the time I did some searching because I needed the male end that you have and found them in a China distribution house that sells just about every piece of chinese junk. They looked identical - I popped off an email enquiring about them and they were more than glad to sell to me ... minimum order of 10,000 :eek2::Dou: I tried working around this, i.e. "Send me a sample" but they wouldn't without a credit card # and that wasn't happening.

.. of course for the next 3 years I got Email-Blasted from them every few weeks to buy their goods AND I found mine so I stopped looking for a source.

I just did some online searching and this looks very much like the same latch

    Alan,

If it works, find some old GM parts bags and start selling them on Fleabay for $99.99 each! Especially if they're the same for an SS or GTO!

Tony, the dimensions, look the same for the part that is in the console, I am wondering about the male latch that goes on the lid, if it will fit. Please let us know, the OEM one was a National Tutch Latch. Thanks.

Wow...Buick Parts at the hardware store!
I think I'll go to ACE and see if they have any GS grills, Posi Rearends, Dash Bezels, etc.
