Looking for a power booster from a 1970. I think the numbers on the tab are 9391 and the Delco Moraine is stamped upside down.

If I can find the one that came off my 70 Chevelle I will let you know.
Otherwise you may be able to get one from Steve Gregori in CA. He restores boosters and does detail plating.

The biggest thing to look for is, Delco Moraine will be stamped on the front face, upside down. Also you may be able to read some tiny numbers on the very top tab, they should be 9391. But more importantly is the Delco Moraine stamping upside down.

    Thanks,
    Tim

I've spoken with Gregori numerous times trying to find a booster but he doesn't have any at the moment.

    Thanks,
    Tim

I checked the 70 disc brake booster I have and cant find the Delco stamp but I did find the numbers 939 on a tab. I did not see the 1 and I dont know if there was room for another number on the tab. I will have to clean up the front to see if I can find the Delco stamp. Should it be on the right or left side of the booster?

    Ed,

Sounds like it might be correct.
The Delco Moraine stamping will be on the passenger side of the face, approximately where a clock would have the 8-9.

    Thanks,
    Tim

Ok I found it. Too many rust measles to do you any good in terms of using it.

The DELCO inscription is in the 8 o'clock position upside down based on the vacuum fitting being on the passenger side side. (If you rotated it 180 degrees DELCO would be on the driver's side in the 2 o'clock position right side up but the vacuum take off would then be on the driver's side.) So I presume they used some boosters originally designed for a car with the vacuum take off on the drivers' side. For this reason I would say the way Buick used these caused the booster to installed upside down from the way it was intended.

With DELCO in the 8 o'clock position the top tab has "107" engraved on the backside. This came off a 49K mile 70 GSX made in April.

I found the stamp on the booster. It is upside down and stamped very lightly. So light it is hard to read. I checked the tab again and it does have 939 in the center and looks like the 1 didnt quite make it. I can see a small nick where the leg at the top of the 1 may have nicked the edge of the tab. I can post pictures later tonight but the booster will need to be replated.

    Jim,

Thank you for looking, too bad it is rusty.
Your explanation of the stamping in the upside down and right side up makes sense to me. I never thought of it that way, but you must be correct. That would have saved them some money.

    Thanks,
    Tim

    Ed,

Thank you for checking the codes and stamping. You mention it needs to be replated, is it rusty?

    Thanks,
    Tim

Here's a pic of a new one from the era (69-70). Still holding vac from factory test after all these years... the numbers are different than the numbers you are looking for.

It has worst rust on the backside on the bottom when mounted. The front has spots of rust. I pulled this off a 70 Chevelle when I got the disc brakes. Here are a couple of pictures for you to decide. I am going to have some other stuff plated so replating it is an option.

Wow Matt thats nice. How much are you selling that one for?
