Yep, I am going to wear pants to work tomorrow. 55 is to cold for shorts!
Last night I took the convertible out. I had to wear a sweat shirt and run the heater. My ears did get a little cold with the top down.
Sorry, I could not resist. This is why we live through 110 degree summers.

Old man winter has made quite an entrance here in Memphis today. Freezing rain, sleet and snow. Lows in the teens and high of around 25 tommorrow. Earlier, I couldn't even get out of the house. The front storm door froze shut within an hours time. I got the back open and the fence gate was frozen shut.

When I finally busted out into the driveway, I discovered someone had replaced my GN with an ice sculpture. :Dou:

    Mike,
    A really small world!!
I used to live on Highbury (off Brandt right past Kinder Care) )which is just south of and runs parallel with Taylorsville. Sounds like you are super close.

My sister is in Lubbock, and just emailed me a pic showing an inch or 2 on the ground... that's as much as we have here in ND! I'll bet it's a bit colder here though. Supposed to be near -20 tonight, and that ain't with the wind chill  :eek2: ( I hate winter  )

Greg Schmelzer What are you looking at?!

Now, wait a second, John. We deal with 110* heat here in Omaha plus humidity (that is a relative measure of the amount of moisture in the air for you AZ boys!! :moonu:   ) near 65-70%. How's come we gotta deal with single digit highs?! :Do No:

We usually fly through Lubbock to get to Portales, NM for the holidays. This year we decided to go through Albuquerque and drive an extra couple hours. It's supposed to be sunny on Friday when we travel.

We've gotten delayed for days due to snow in the Portales to Lubbock area, and had to drive through it when there weren't delays.

It's always funny how I tell people I'm going to New Mexico and Arizona for the holidays and they say, "at least it will be warm." :Dou:

They have no idea that New Mexico gets a good bit of snow/ice and central AZ is very similar.

We have 10" of snow now and it just keeps coming.
My wife and I along with my middle son all went out this evening to help my 10 year old deliver the local weekly paper.
As I'm making my way down this one street I see this older guy (who just moved in) attempting to shovel out his driveway which is just buried.
The guy across the street yells "I'll bet you're glad you moved up here!"
The guy shoveling says, "Yeah people say that they wouldn't want all of the heat and humidity that we had down South. But I'll tell you what, I've never had to shovel humidity."

You guys from Texas to Ohio have OUR snow...and we want it back!!! We barely have a dusting in the Twin Cities. I would replace the -9 current temp with 3+ feet of snow anyday. Besides, it very difficult to snowmobile on grass!! International Falls was somewhere in the -25 F department (without the wind chill). Coldest on record was in Embarrass, MN (on the iron range) at -60 :jd: a few years ago.

Got about 20" here in the yard. And it's supposed to get well below zero tonight. My family spent 2 hours out just clearing out the driveway.
We had a massive problem on I-70 east and westbound last night. It is shutdown. Story on the local newspaper website this a.m. told the story of a 19 year old girl who left work at 11:00 p.m. last night and her exit was just one more away when the freeway came to a halt. At 9:00 a.m. folks were still parked on the freeway. 6" + fell between all the cars on the interstate. My son's girlfriends brother has been out there since last night.

We got the storm from Ohio here in Ontario last night and today. The drive to work in my 2wd S10 was hell- pretty much sideways all the way. No plows out as of 7am this morning. We shut down at work (Toyota dealer) at 2pm today- which gave me plenty of time to dig out the knee-hip deep snow in my driveway. I came this ->.<- close to going out and plopping down a grand on a snowblower but I relented and kept at it and finally got it done. I'm a little sore now!

    Denver??????

Why is it that Denver always gets lumped in with "buffalo???". I mean just 'cause it's 9 degrees here now. :Dou:

It's supposed to get up to 50 deg. on Saturday :jd:

The weather here is not that bad, it only really snows hard when the donkeys, i mean broncos, are on network TV. Monday night is especially good for snow!

Anyway, I'll be thinking of you guys come Christmas, and I'm wearing shorts. :Dou:

    Happy Holidays!!!

My dad woke me at 6 am to help my mom out of the drive. I'd only gotten 3 hours of sleep, but figured I could just rock the car out. Nope - I made it 7 feet, but had to shovel the car out. The snow was about a foot deep and very wet b/c it was drizzling. Its been a very long time since we've had a snowfall like this in Lorain County - usually cities East of Cleveland get hit worse.

She left and I shoveled for 2 hours, showered, and left for work (I'm a student employee at Cleveland State University).

I get to work at 9:10 only to learn the college closed at 8:57. As if they couldn't have made the decision at a time when people wouldn't be on their way. After all that work, I decided to just work my shift anyway.

Left at 4, did some shopping, came home, ate, and shoveled snow for another couple hours. It is pretty, though.

You'll never be able to explain to them, John. These northerners just don't understand "cold" like we do.

When they go out in the cold, it's in a set of long johns, jeans, t-shirt, facemask, sweatshirt, and 2 jackets, at least one of them with a hood. Bundled in a blanket. Warmed in front of a fireplace.

When WE go out in the cold, it's in jeans and a sweatshirt, thinking "Oh, it's not gonna be cold out." Then we get hit with 40 degrees and a 10mph wind, and boy, it sure FEELS like it's 30 out there! Then in no time, your teeth are chattering, you gotta put the windows up in the car and the heat on (which you only then remember that the heater core was removed last year when it started leaking, thinking you wouldn't need the heat anyways) and bundle up on the seat in the fetal position until your hands and feet have thawed.

And don't get me started on clearing my windows in the morning! All of the above applies, except now you've probably got some frost on the windshield, that won't clear off for at least a good 2 minutes, making you late for work, and everyone there is grouchy 'cause they were 2 minutes late from clearing their windshield off too. The only person NOT 2 minutes late, of course, is your boss, who commutes from the very pits of hell, so naturally, THEIR windshield wasn't covered with frost! :af:

Nobody talks about the Florida winters, because everyone knows better than to stick around here when it turns cold. It's a deathwish, I tell ya.
