The stinger will work with any electronic ignition iirc, but generally they are used with the Stinger hall effect pickup in a stock distributor

I sold a box about a year and a half ago for $45 to a guy here on V8 Buick. I still have a distributor with the Stinger pick up.

Summit now sells replacement parts for Mallory distributors. They are made in China, but what isn't?

I have a complete unit on the shelf that I may use in the future and wondered what can we use for replacement parts should the pick up spit the bit?

Or are we SOL? I mean, it's 2019 and someone has to have figured out a quick fix for a dead Stinger pick up by now, right?

The hardest part to find for Stingers are the coils. You must have the right coil for it to work properly.

I believe the IC 12 Napa unit is correct for the Stinger.

    Louie..Interested in selling the box?

Mike...Are you interested in selling the pick up and possibly coil??

I would sell the pick up. I will have to dig it out. The coil I have is no good, it is leaking.

I hope I can find it.. I think it’s still installed on the car. I’ll report back Monday. That’s the earliest I’ll be able to get to the car if this potential storm holds off.

The pick up from a V8 Mopar, late 70’s or so.

The pick up is a magnetic pick up. You can use an MSD distributor to trigger an S-4 if you like. As mentioned, the Stinger pick up is a Mopar part from their early electronic distributor.

I thought I'd read that somewhere a while back.

Wonder how you'd go about attaining some extras and which cars they were used on....

Wonder if that's why the book shows a ballast resistor? The Mopars used them..I don't remember using one on my 72 GS with a 455..
