    I know, I know, if you want gas mileage.......you wouldn't be driving a 455!

Just curious to see what you are getting. Anything form stock to 500 hp.

Is it really a stupid question when.....

gas is $2 a gallon? Yes, if you were concerned too much about it the big blocks would be stored away for a while. Personally Im curious what everyone else is getting so I know what to expect. Does it really matter enough to change my plans for driving. No, not really. Even running premium Ill probably drive it the same and tromp on it here and there. But then again, if it was about fuel economy we would never have bought the big cube motors, would we? No, its about fun factor. Atleast for most of us.

I get about 9 miles to the gallon. Stock bottom end (I assume), milled stage 1 heads, cam, headers, B4B intake and a holley 850 DP carb. I probably could get a bit better milage if I went with a Q-Jet. :)

I averaged 12.5 mpg round trip to Salem from Maine. The engine spent a good deal of time between 3200-3700 RPM on the highway. I have a Holley spreadbore replacement carb. I don't even know how big - it came on the car when I bought it. I am planning to put the Q-jet back on after a rebuild.

With my 462 in a C20 pickup, I get 10.5 in town, 12 on the highway in Drive. I got 14.09 driving to salem and back, and on another trip, in OD after unhooking the EGR and recurving the distributor, I got 17.74!

The truck tips the scales at 4600 lbs empty, with 1/2 tank of gas in each tank. I believe the coeffecient of drag is comparable to a freightliner

I got about 14 mpg with my Centurion (455) with stock 2.93 gears.

The 69 Wildcat I had back in highschool would around 8-10 in town, but get it out on the highway and it would get 18-20 running at 65-70mph. This is with TH400 and 3.08 gear.

I'm getting about 15.5 out of the 350 in my Century, TH350 and 3.08 gear.

    BadBrad Got 4-speed?

Last time I checked I got 13.9 climbing 7000 feet over a 90 mile run and staying near the speed limit. Running a 2.73 rear and 3.44 first in 4 speed. I thought this mileage was pretty remarkable. Bad Brad attributes it to his engine building skills.

Why is everyone running "Highway" gears?

Is there something I should know?

Do the BIG Buick's not like gears?
