What day are you all leaving for Salem? I have been thinking about leaving on Wednesday(I'm not too sure right now-I haven't decided yet).
Carl, Larry, Alan and I are leaving on Wednesday. You are more than welcome to join us. By the way, what are you bringing and how are you getting it there ????????? :3gears: :3gears: :3gears: :3gears: :3gears: :3gears: :3gears: :3gears: :3gears: :3gears: :3gears: :3gears: :3gears: :3gears: :3gears: :3gears: P.S.do you have something that can keep up with us.........HA-HA-HA
It would be nice to be able to leave Wed. But for me I'll head out very early Tue. morning. Drive Safely
One little group from Chicago area is leaving Thursday morning. Anyone from Wisconsin or any points north or west are welcome to meet up with us. ShariB
Robsbuick and I are planning on heading out early Wednesday morning - we want to get there to race that evening in the regular Wednesday night program. Ron, are you guys leaving early or do you have to wait for Alan to roll out of bed around noon??? Anyone else thinking of racing Wednesday night??
Is the Weds program open to street cars and what time do you have to be there? I had the chance to race in the Weds street program at the '99 GS Nats in Columbus, OH. I made it down to the last five cars then went red! ou: The car I was up against had been cutting .51 lights all night and running right on his number. I had been cutting .52 lights and running within a few hundreths. I figured if I raised my staging rpms up 200 I would be able to tree him, NOTou: ou: ou: Ran it out anyway, we both would have broke out, but I was closer to the dial, Dang, Dang. That's what happens when you don't practice enough! Lot's of fun though considering I drove the car the 800+ miles there and still had to drive the 800+ back home!!
I hope to run the Wednesday night street program at Quaker before the BPG Meet. Gates open at 5:00pm with time trials starting at 5:30. They have several different street classes. All entries must be licensed, inspected, and through the mufflers, with the exception of the Modified class. Slicks are OK in all classes except Street Bike. IHRA Safety Rules apply to all entries. Classes: MODIFIED--anything goes STREET STICK/AUTO -- street legal SPORT COMPACT -- All Imports, plus Domestic 4&6 cylinder FWD BIKE -- Street tires required. No wheelie bars TOP -- Quickest 8 Cars, qualified from street stick/auto and compact They also run test and tune on wednesday nights if that's all that you want to do. It's $15 to race and the payouts are quite low, but its all fun! Hope to see lots of you there
JR They run the full quarter mile on wednesdays, they run that 1/8th mile racing on their friday programs now.
You east coast guys must really drive slow if you are leaving on Wednesday (tomorrow). Isn't the event still 30 days away? I guess you need to start planning REALLY early! :moonu: :moonu: :moonu:
Chicago Group Shari, Karran and I will probably try to leave thursday morning also. Who else is going?
Carl, we are leaving Wed. morn 6am. Any chance of meeting up with you guys. We are meeting Yardley around 12-1 and picking up a few others along the way. This could be a nice train of Buicks rippin down the Penn. Tpk.
I made sure I had plenty of time, so I have my hotel reserves set all week thru Sunday night. But I'll probably leave on Tues.
Carl- I have a reservation for Wednesday night. I am assuming we'd leave that day. If you find a trailer with electric brakes that would be no problem as I'm wired for a brake controller. I'm figuring on Rte 80 all the way. No point in heading down to hook up with Yardley. That's out of the way.
Al-- the track is huge and there's a ton of places to park a show car without having to worry about someone getting to close or anything like that. If you are coming out to spectate the Wednesday night program, there probably will be a bunch of us all parked in the same area. The pit spots are actually separated by the little pit roads (we call them islands) and we could get 5-6 trucks, trailers and cars all on one island with other cars parked in front of the tow vehicles. Its pretty safe and secure, but I would recommend parking by other "same" vehicles because usually one or more people are standing around by their cars. That would just be for extra protection
