Threw a new set of plugs with a smaller gap (.035 as apposed to .40) at the Buick today. Found that I had the 6 and 8 plug wires crossed. Ran OK that way when warmed up... Been like that for about 18-months. Seems to start up much easier now and idle smoother.... Hahaha Also got the proportioning valve bolted securely to the frame now. Hopefully I'll get to put valve cover gaskets and new power steering parts and CARHEX steering box in it this week.
Fired off the Tomahawk for the first time yesterday on the dyno. Only pulled to 6K until we get some issues sorted. First pull sounded sort of rough made 411 hp. 2 cyl not firing. 4-7. Realized it has a swapped cam. JW didnt note it on the build sheet. Changed the wires on the cap and made another, made 661. Running lean showing 18.5 afr. Tossed a bigger 1250 carb on there and lost 100 hp still lean. Got a few things to work on this week and will try again next Sat.
These with short throw DA and a little soap knocks down the scratches and improves the look without adding any shine
Cleaned up and painted exhaust manifold and test fitted. Looks good but not enough clearance for auxiliary oil line so off it comes again.
I'm going to make a new line. I could probably just bend it out of the way but I'm a little too picky for that.
Unlike some people that don’t know how to build a wall, I built mine out of Buick rims. Yes, they are all tied down very tightly. I gained a whole bunch of space in my shed that I can put more valuable parts in. My car should also be back in this carport either this afternoon, (too hot), or tomorrow. The carport was previously filled with two 4 wheelers, a big fat Harley, and a bunch of other crap.
Wow....... you want to sell any of the 15" Buick Rally wheels? I could use some that are rust free and like new!! LOL
Steve, I would definitely sell you a couple of these rims. If you saw them up close you would say, Oh, no thank you.
Washed years of dirt & dust off the firewall/ cowl interior/ wipers recess. Car was epoxy-primed way back, but there are a few tiny bits of rust appearing. Will sand those down, re-prime, hit some of the open seams with seam sealer, then paint firewall. Epoxy primer was DP-50… do I need to insure compatibility, or is it not necessary to obsess on a firewall (not a resto).
