Tonight I got all of the power steering parts out of the car, to start upgrading that system. Swapped the fittings from the old PS pump to the new one. The new one came with a different hose coupling and bracket mounting studs. Since the regulator and fitting used a different configuration, I had to swap the regulator piston too, so it would match up with the fitting. Tomorrow or Thursday, I'll clean up and paint the hardware and brackets. Possibly get the steering box back in it, too.
Ordered clutch fan stud kit that I don't need because I have some already but the only way to find them is to buy more. I'm fairly certain there is enough lost parts in my garage to build a whole nother car
I painted the power steering hardware, pump metal brackets, and pump pulley. The aluminum bracket that attaches to the head cleaned up pretty good so no need to paint it. Also cleaned the crud off the frame rail where the box mounts.
I put my baby to sleep for the summer. I’m going up to Virginia until September. The car is back in the carport with a cover on it, front and rear end are sitting on blocks so the tires don’t get flat spots, and the gas tank is full of rec gas in case I need it for a hurricane. See you in September baby!
I painted my timing cover in a shade of red that 100% does not match the rest of the engine. Whatever, it will be shiny.
I'll use a can of "RED" engine paint. Dont have to be the specific color code. soon enough it will burn off the manifolds and get all dirty. No one knows the difference. As long as its not Orange!
Getting ready to paint my firewall, car is in finish prime and supposed to be sealed in DP-50 epoxy... when I notice tiny blisters of rust. Break out the wire brushes, 200 / 400, scotchbrite and work over the whole firewall. Also picked up some seam sealer for the seams & and gaps. N0w I'm worried the rest of the car has hidden tiny tendrils of rust all over under it's primer/sealer coat. Car has sat too long without getting painted.
Drove it to the gym, stopped at Kroger's on my way home. Parked in a great spot with nobody next to me. Came out and a construction van was in the next spot. Fired up the old Buick and his alarm went off big time just blaring away! Got a chuckle out of that one as I was leaving.
Sweet! I did the same thing once in a garage at the gym, lol That is what they get for parking next to ya How come people always do this Park a mile away and someone has to park next to you. Richard Crainiums cool out today going to start to take front cover and such to change cam.
