Although the thread allows for a nice record of the transaction, some people just like privacy. Nothing wrong with that. Also, some of the threads get a bit long. I've not purchased anything yet, but I can see why one might PM the seller - you can be more certain to get noticed. If the first few respondents don't buy, the order of buyers can become confusing in a long thread.
Kind of like the 3 prices I pay. 1. The price I paid. 2. The price I tell her I paid. 3. The price I pay when she finds out what I paid.
I always do both. PM and a public post. Whatever, rarely is there a deal that I "HAVE TO HAVE" Whatever the seller wants. I say first come first served but that's always up to the seller.
I see your point as well, but don't think a change in policy would do that much to help. A couple of months ago a set of Rallys were advertized on the board. I was first in line booth on post and in PM. I never heard from the guy who was selling. He never posted another word and I saw a set of similar rallys from the same town on eBay a couple of days later, with the starting price exactly the same as he agreed to sell them for on the board. Coincidence?
PMing is fine it would be nice if people would just reply also. one word reply like INTERESTED or SENT PM and if you dont want people knowing your interested reply something like I KNOW SOMEONE THAT MIGHT BE INTERESTED. just my opinion. :TU:
