first car was a 63 galaxie 500. Had four doors no ps no pb and a 223 straight 6. You could measure it's 0-60 time with a calender.
Ahhh... Nice memories of a '83 Mazda GLC.... Beat the livin Pi$$ out of that car... Man could it take a beating. Hey... better that car than a GS, I was wild in my youth. still have the DMV record to prove itou:
my first car was a 70 GSX 455 STAGE 1 4 SPEED. I bought it june of 1974 ,two days before high school graduation.the best part i didn't know how to drive a stick . my father said ,you bought it ,you drive it!so off i went ,with very thought out routs.making sure to stay clear of redlights and stop signs on hills.i also had to replace the clutch in a month.but the car is still in one piece and in my garage.so i guess i did alright.
My first was a 40 Ford opera coupe with a 57 Caddy engine and a blown tranny. Didn't matter, wasn't old to drive, but was the beginning of a life long addiction to cars. Learned alot and made alot of dumb mistakes with this car.
My first car was a 1931 Buick 4 dr that I bought when I was 14. You could get a drivers license at that age , and I drove it for a year and got a 1937 buick Century. In 1949 the only thing that would run close to it was the Olds 88. I had the 41 Buick dual carbs and dual exhaust on the old girl , but other than that it was stock.
My first car was a 71 LeMans, 350-2 and Camaro ralley wheels. Got in so much trouble with it my Dad offered to buy me a motorcycle if I sold it! There it was ... Gone. My second car I still have, my beloved GS. Adam.
First car I owned AND drove, was a 74 Olds Omega with a '68 455 (with the C heads), TH350 tranny, and an 8.5" 3.08 posi. That car was my first introduction to massive torque!! That thing was a blast!! I'd love to find a solid Apollo and do one with 455 Buick Power!!:TU:
Re: Re: It wasn't a 'car'... Loved my Scirocco, but by the time I got out of the hospital from the crash with the Olds, my Pop had already junked it. Probably best, considering the shape I was in, the VW was much, much worse. Motor and tranny inside the passenger compartment. Can't fix that.:ball: Still hurts when I get up in the morning. Sounds like somebody is taking a bag of potato chips and seeing how small they can get the pieces. It is better when I drink, but I prefer the old hammer to the forehead. It just doesn't hurt as long.:Brow:
1968 GS 400 Convertible - My father's friend knew someone selling a Buick convertible and we went to look at it. I didn't have my license yet so my Dad had to test drive it. He left wheels pulling away from the curb. "I don't think your Mother will like this." I talked her into it and drove it until I sold it to go to college. ________ Ass skinny
1956 Plymouth Savoy 2-door, 2-speed push button, 6-banger. Neutral drops were fun and we used it as a 4x4 as well. Paid $125 for it when making minimum wage of $1.25 delivering groceries in a '54 Ford Sedan Delivery. '54 Chev 1/2T Panel '62 GMC 2x4 Suburban '69 Pontiac Tempest '75 CJ5 '57 Chev PU '74 Pontiac Grand Am I know, I know... When I fart, it's a dust cloud.:eek2:

I confess- my first car was a Ford. But less than a year later I repented and bought my Buick, so I've seen both sides of the Force.:TU:
1985 Olds cutlass. gold with a tan interior. 307 and a 2.41 posi. Drove that for 6 months, got rear ended, bought a police car, hit a deer and went into a ditch, bought an 87 Turbo regal, went broke and lost my job so i sold it, bought my current 88 accord, Im selling that to fund my 87 Regal limited. ________ AVANDIA CLASS ACTION LAWSUITS
The first car I bought was a 1967 Special 4-door. Equipped with the ever fun switch pitch tranny and a 300-2.
1st car was a 70something vega w/dead 4 banger. Someone came into my auto shop class in high school and basically threw me the keys. Never could get it to run, gave up and sold it to my friend for a 6 pack of bud. He put a 350 in it and had a blast destroying tires with it. 1st and only new car was a 91 chevy S10. Dad cosigned on it, Black,4 banger, no options other then A/C. 2 months after I got it, I had just detailed it and went to go pick up my little brother from school. A Benz pulled out in front of me on a blind curve. Goodbye S10. Next was a 72 Olds Delta 88 coupe W/455-4. Giant car, lots and lots of power and a blast to cruise. Payed $500 for it, was in perfect shape other then non functioning power windows (fixed on the way home from picking it up) was a perfect car. This car was a DUI magnet. The guy I bought it from was selling cuz he got a DUI and lost his license. I loaned it to a friend, he got a DUI, loaned it to his brother, he got a DUI also and was too stupid or embarassed to tell me that it got impounded for two weeks. Impound fees were over $1,000 so I had to let the car go. Bummer. Then the fascination with aircooled VWs started. Had a 63 ragtop bug and a 74 baja. Money pits but a whole lot of fun. 86 Toyota 4x4. Bought as a theft recovery for $1,200. Put another $1,000 in it and it was good as new. Still own it 13 years later, has 258,000 miles on it. I love this truck. 97 Toyota Tacoma. Bought it when it was a year old. Became work truck by day and lowered import racer at night. Spent a fortune on lowering, shiny metal intake tubes, clear taillights and fart pipes. lLost business, went broke, had to turn back into dealer. (OUCH)...... 66 Buick Skylark 340-4, buckets, center console and floor shift. Traded a set of wheels and tires for it. Still have it and is an ongoing project. 85 Dodge d-50 longbed. Did some wiring work for a friend. Gave me the truck in trade. Workhorse, ugly and indestructable. Thats pretty much all of em.
My first car My first car was a '69 Buick Riviera, still have it today. When I was 14 and on a hunting trip with my father and brother I spotted a '57 Chevy Pickup. I begged my father to buy me the truck and before he had a chance, my brother bought it. Oh well, at least I got to drive it:moonu: . Then on one beautiful day, my father asked me if I would like to have the Buick. Looked like a moldy turd at that time. It had been sitting in the pasture for about ten or fifteen years. It was growing grass inside the car! But I thankfully accepted, realizing what an oppurtunity this was, and we restored it together. Project was about 98% complete in Aug of 98 when it was involved in an accident. It took several years to locate all parts needed to re-restore vehicle. My father and I are hoping to complete it, again this weekend. :Brow: Can not wait to drive that car for the first time, all over again.
...a 1979 Century Wagon waiting to be junked at a golf course. Bought it for 1$ with 60k kms (40k miles). Never saw a winter till I got it... Odd history to the car...my grandfather bought it at a police auction in 1979 for my grandmother. She wasn't too fond of it, and when he lost her 6 months later he just gave the car away to a friend at the local golf course. He used it as a greens truck until 86 when it was left to rot after being replaced with a new pickup truck. The owner planned to junk it. "If you can get it out of that shed it's yours, cheaper than hauling it away" Sure had a lot wrong with it...needed a battery Bottom of the line, only option was a suspension package, ugly green with puke color interior... nothing special.... figured I'd probably own it for a couple years tops. After 300k kms & 10 years, the car had been from Inuvik to Argentina. I lived in it for 3 weeks in University, moved cities a dozen times with nothing but a Wagonload, never had to be towed once. I lost accurate track of the odo at 400k, we're at 16 years. Now that I have a shop to work in it's my experimental-daily-driver-engine-hauler car. Turned a consistent 13.8 most nights. Had a guy offer me 7500 for it last year, no sale, figure I'll probably own it for a couple more years tops... :TU:
