Well , if you just have to have one .
No good for a resto . Unless you want to do up a v6 Nascar rig .
The TA aluminum HD blocks are about 1/2 that I think .
Probably be a good starting point for a very solid high output motor . But not for $6k+ . Maybe $1500 ?

Virgin BMS blocks bring anywhere from $3-4k.

Now if he had a pair of Trident heads to go with the block it might be worth it.

Motorsports made up some Three valve heads for racing. Two intake valves and One exhaust valve for the V6. This was back around '85 or so. I saw a pallet of them in for testing. I asked a lab tech what they were and he told me they were Trident heads. I dont know if they were ever used in racing. They sure looked cool. I was hoping that they would put them on a GN. The pallet sat there for about a week then it was gone and I never heard about them again. This was in the Buick factory. Saw a lot of cool stuff when I worked there.

Were these engines raced several years ago in the nascar Xfinity series?

Yes, originally the (Busch) Grand National Series, hence the name Buick used for the cars - Used until they want to V8's (don't recall waht year). Also used in NHRA (until Buddy Ingersoll started going too fast & they were bannned - I think in '86) and IndyCar in the 80's. Buick V6's were all the rage.

I remember hearing a story back on the day that Bobby Alison was going to put his v6 engine from there bush car in his Winston cup car for Martinsville. He figured the wight distribution with the Buick v6 would make up for the horse power difference. The story goes that Buick motor sport put a stop to it because they didn't want anyone to know how close to the v8 this engine was.

Never heard of the 3 valve head. All I knew was the stage 2 heads in Nascar and Indy which were 2 valve heads.

The Indy in qualifying trim were 900-1000hp. The cosworth were higher in those days

Like I said, I never heard about them again. I dont know if they were used in racing or not. I asked Denny Manner about them but he didn't have anything to do with Motorsports so he didn't know anything about them.

I've googled to death and still can't find any real info of specs and power outputs on the Nascar and Indy V6 engines. All I keep getting is the factory GN cars.
Can anyone give any links or help?:)

We saw a lot of wild stuff in Flint the the rest of the world never knew about. Everyone had a friend or worked in "the Buick." One of my best buds had a 85 Regal drag car with a Scott Brayton Indy car block with the GTP sports car heads. Would love to just have the manual we worked from, loose leaf note book typed up with a typewriter. Ponch and I both see Denny Manner a few times a year at local car shows and stuff. Denny Manner came to my buddies speed shop to get a nitrous kit for Buick to play with. Another of my friends was Ron Frakes son. Ron did the aero on the GSX and helped build the Indy pace cars.

I know that in the 80s the v6 Busch were in the 500 hp range. Buick led the way.. ford learned and made a potent by as well in the late 80s early 90s.

Then they decided to remove the v6 and put the v8 back in but with lower compression and carb back in Busch. This was when randy Lajoie was doing great
