Before I rush out and look at or buy these CL specials, can anyone tell me if Buick Rallyes with 245/60/14 tires will fit on my 65 Skylark? I don't know if all stock Rallyes are created equal or otherwise. The ones I'm looking at were once on a 72 Skylark.

    Thanks

I had 245/60/15 on the rear of my 67 gs400 with 15x7 buick ralleys. they did have 4.5" backspace, so you will need to check that out.

  3. I had 275/60/15 on the back of my 65 GS with stock 15 inch rally wheels and the original 65 rear end. on my 65 special i had 255/60/15 on the back with a wider 72 8.5 10 bolt rear. as long as the wheels you are buying have stock backspacing you should have no trouble

  4. The 66-67 Skylarks have substantially less tire room in rear than the 64-65 cars

    alec296 i need another buick

    i have a 65 with 86 regal 14 in (more offset)rims on the front with 215-70r14s
i was looking to fit those tires on the front
it should be ok if your suspension is in good shape
mine do rub slightly when backing up and turning/bump
my fender has been pushed back a bit from a bumper tap
my front springs are weak too
but with the offset of the 72 wheels i bet you will clear the fender no problem
check the clearace on turns to the swap bar
you might have to alter turning stops a bit

Does anyone know the spacing for after market wheels for a '65 Skylark? I am looking for a set of rims for my wife's car and want to make sure I have the proper spacing.

    Thanks for any help.

What size rim/tire combo are you wanting to run? Here's my '65 with both 17" TT2s and 15" Cragars. The 17s are 8" wide with 4.5" BS on the rear with 255/45/17 Hankooks and the front are 8" wide with 4" BS and 225/40/17 Hankooks. The Cragars were 7" wide in the rar with 4 1/8" BS with 235/70/15s and the fronts were 15x4s with 3" BS and 185/50/15s

Personally I love the 17's, but I have seen a few sets of nice 16's for decent prices. I just need to make sure of the back spacing for 15's, 16's, and 17's so when i find "the set" i know.

By the way I love the stance your car has with the 17's and thanks for the info.

Has anyone successfully put on 15x8 rims on a 65 Skylark?

If so, does it require custom backspacing? Do they also fit the front?

I came by a very nice set and would appreciate the opinion of someone who's done it over what the Les Schwab Tire Monkeys tell me.

Jeff, you ever put on the 15X8 rims on the 65' Skylark? I'm looking at either 15 or 16 inch trying to decide which would with best with stock spec coil springs/shocks. Thanks, Doug

I still haven't tried the 15x8 wheels. I'll check for clearances this weekend and post the results.

I'm looking to do the TTII's in a 17x8 on the rear of my 64 Lark.

    Any additional info?

    Thanks,

I've got 15x8 with a 5 1/2" backspace on the back of mine with 275/60's. I also have a `70 rearend in the car which is 1" wider overall than the `65 rear. There isn't much room but they don't rub. If you were to put the same combo on the car with a stock rearend you would need a 5" backspace.

decide if you are gonna do any brake upgrades as some kits change your offset needs too

I have 17 X 8 on the rear of mine,,,with 255's,,,a 5" bs,,,on a stock 65 axle!!! They fit nice,,,some guys who have 275's (which I wanted) must be just about scrapping the widewalls off!!!!

Are there any specs to compare 64-72 rears as far as length goes?

There are charts for every other GM A body, no BPO that I can find?

I really like the look of this setup.

Any reason why this combination wouldn't work on a stock 64 Lark?
