Sometimes I hear "nice Chevelle", but 9 times out of ten, it's "Nice Cutlass". What car is yours mistaken for the most?
I don't have a Buick anymore, and never had an A-body. But when i had my Riviera, a shop stuck some Mercury and LeSabre Hubcaps on. So, many people thought it was a Merc.
I've been asked numerous times: "what year Chevelle is that?" I overheard one guy telling his wife : "Chevy never had a Stage 1 Chevelle in 68."ou: So, he effectively got the year, make, model and engine availability wrong all in one sentence.
My buick century has been mistakened only once for an olds cutlass, but many times it has been mistakened for a regal, but hey, I don't mind it when people mistake it for a regal
I have heard many different car names but , Never mistakened for my moms Buick !! :3gears:  :TU:
<---- What's under my userid? I think it's year specific for me. 64-65 "F-85", 66-67 "Chevelle" 68-72 "Cutlass/442"
Everyone that has walked up to my car and asked have always said, what year is that Buick......now I did have a guy 2 weeks ago call it a Burick.....my girl (14 years old and JUST like her dad my wife says), before I could say anything she looked at him and said...........what'd you say? uzzled: ....... I thought I was gonna bust....I love that kid.
I pulled into a BP station late one Friday nite, filling up for a long distance show on Saturday. Finishing, I went into pay and the guy behind the counter says "nice 442". I said thanks but its not a 442. He looks again and appologizes and says "Oh yeah, I see its not a 442.....its a Chevelle......nice car dude". I said "Look again Scooter, its a Buick Gran Sport"!! He looks again and with that deer in headlights look on his face says to me, "are you sure"? A few weeks ago I took the little woman out to the local Sonic drive in with the top down in the 71. After ordering, the manager comes out to the car and says, "nice 442 what year"? I said thanks its a 71 and its a Buick. He said "really? I saw the emblems but figured they were supposed to be 442". I said "Gee...it kinda makes you wonder if the order will be right". I was sore for a week after she'd elbowed me. ou: DW
Beth almost stormed the tower at Byron after the announcer called her wagon a Vista Cruiser:af:  :spank: D.
A related common situation for me at least is guys saying, "nice clone" and I ask them why they say that. I mean, it's easy to tell if you know what to look for, but on first glance? Then they say, "It's got to be a clone. They never made a convertible GS455 in 1970" I usually say "Huh. No kiddin? Jeez, there's a VIN for it...." I loooove it when someone says Nice Chevelle, and you tell them it's not a Chevelle, then they say, 'No really, it's a Chevelle" as if YOU'RE the idiot! I think I'm going to start telling guys with 442s that they have a sweet GS on their hands
Most people are like..."That's ah mmmm GM of some sort?" I say.." It's a Buick" They say..."Really?? That doesn't look like a Buick." I'm thinking....What's it suppose to look like?"
Well I guess if I owned a 1976 cutlass people would call it a century/regal, they do it on purpose sometimes I think. Im going to start calling people's chevelles and 442's GS's, "hey, that's a nice GS you got there!",
