Now that’s some good rain! Can’t even see the cars parked in the apartment across the street. When it slows down I’ll take a picture of the puddle that is going into the sewer cap. I see other peoples poop and toilet paper in my yard pretty soon. I hate predicting the future!
I know it’s a still picture, because I’m too stupid to figure out how to do a video, but there is no wind right now. Zero
You can’t exactly see the sewer cap on the sidewalk because the lamp post is blocking it. In a little while, maybe a few hours the sewer system will have had enough. That’s when it starts coughing back out
I know some of you people live up north. Well, probably the majority of you people. The sand is so porous here that if it didn’t rain for an hour, all the puddles would be gone. Now if it rains for 24 hours and a little bit more, that won’t happen.
I have a gas burning insert with a standing pilot light, and a wood burner for backup heat here. No backup electricity. My home is close to the old Sand Point Naval base and the grid seems pretty darn robust... Mostly if I lose power it's in a winter wind storm (tree on lines) and the longest I have been without was 6 hours (in about 25 years). Prayers for all in the storms path.
Reality is morons run out of gas and mess up the evacuation route too. Again, prayers for all in the storms path.
Uh-oh, rumor has it that Cantore is at the Springhill Suites in downtown Punta Gorda. I wonder what he knows? The 5PM update will be interesting.
Oh no, when I put the radar on my phone I have the storm eye looking at me. Looks like a pretty scary eye. It’s still a blue eye. I think it means love. I’ll stop now. Tired of the rain. You people that live in Tampa need some. Just got finished talking to my high school buddy from Lakeland. He said nothing all day. I’m going to gather up my firewood and build an ark.
Damn, I forgot the 5 o’clock weather report. Presently it is 77.2°F at 5:46 PM. In the first picture you can clearly see the barometer has dropped. Almost 2 millibars. There is actually a chill in the air as witnessed by the 77° temperature, because normally we would be sweating our asses off right now. We’ve had a lot of rain. Definitely a lot of rain. I went to check my rain gauge which is a Lowe’s 5 gallon bucket. Either my nephews that live behind me or my own grandkids did something with the bucket. It is just flat out gone. So I set up another bucket. It doesn’t have too much water in it right now. More later on this unbiased news net work.
Well we are waiting for the next feeder band to come through with devastation and destruction I will show you a few pictures of my grandson’s hot rod.
I just bought 80 sheets of 7/16 higher end OSB plywood for $15.30 today(had been $59.63 last spring) to replenish my stock in the Barn. After Ian passes through I bet it doubles by Monday.
It's a slow mover for sure. it does look like Punta Gorda is going to get the worst of it from what I see. Glad to be here complaining about the smoke from forest fires!
My son found this in the trash pile years ago. The lights on the rollbar used to work and it actually had a M radio that used to work. Over the years it has gotten beat on big time. We had run through our supply of little batteries, so I put a 660 CCA battery on it. My grandson loves it. With the added weight in the front end it does really big burn outs!!!
They call my town the village of Palm Springs, but sometimes Amazon wants my address to be Lake Worth 33461.
Bob the lumber yard I deal with will call me before raising their prices great to have friends in the know. We have 5 lifts of lumber held for next Tuesday delivery. It may be up to 8 if they say it's going up. I've waited too long to build the camps for my Sons project.... Be well everyone
